So, I am new to FrameMaker, but not to RoboHelp (been using it since 1994).We have linked out User Guide FrameMaker book to a RoboHelp project. I generated the first update of the book to the RH project using the Force Update All. and now I see the cross reference content comes across as expected, but the hyperlink tags of the cross reference are lost. The text is formatted to LOOK like a hyperlink, but the aref tabs are missing.I have been told that is a known issue and that I need to recreate them manually in the RH topics. There are over 300. I am beside myself. Can anyone confirm that this does not work as I expected? I just cannot believe that this is not imported with the hyperlink - or maybe it is that I just don't want to recreate 300+ hyperlinks in my source project.ANY help/confirmation would be greatly appreciated.
Large Merged Project. I do not understand how search works in a merged project. Sometimes one term does not pull up topics from all the projects, which confuses my users. For example, only one project responds correctly when a user types forms, for example. If I type "forms" (with the quote marks), it behaves more like I would expect, but this is something extra to teach my users that is inconsistent with other terms. I cannot find any reason for this behavior. All the projects appear to have same settings. Often these missing topics already have forms as part of their heading 1. I have tried to force the missing topics to show by adding forms to keywords. This is just one example. Why does this happen and how can I control it?

The Expand/Collapse option on my new RoboHelp 2015 > Projects menu > View section is disabled/grayed out all the time. I cannot use it for the Table of Contents panel. The Help file doesn't cover anything about it. What is wrong with this?
In Robohelp 10, can you make a form within Robohelp, free standing, that can include calculations or formulas? For example, for verification an Account number is needed and the person selects Fail, meaning the customer couldn't verify the account number, the form will then calculate and say 2 more items are need to complete verification? Just don't know where to go to see if we can do that in Robohelp 10. Any help would be appreciated!
I am using RoboHelp 9.0.2.271 inside of TCS 3.5 on the following Dell laptop characteristics:I build HTML CHM help files. I have many times used Hyperlink/Popups for users to view a picture of what is being discussed underneath it. As illustrated below, the "grey colored lines" link should bring up the picture below it. This is a screen cap from the View Selected Item command on the tool bar. That is why you can see it here.I first save it using the Display in frame option, then reopen it and change it to Display in custom sized popup, giving it a proper size.I then save all, and produce the CHM file. Opening the chm file and clicking on the link brings up this error box.I then click on the Hyperlink/Popup above it in the previous paragraph and that picture displays OK.I check the Hyperlink/Popup properties and it is virtually the same. The jpg files are both in the RoboHelp Projects directory I am working this page in.Switching to HTML code view... both hyperlinks look the same. There
We have been using RoboHelp off/on for client projects for a decade, but these tools usually sit behind a corporate firewall so the help file itself is never exposed to the Internet. We have an application we are launching soon and we want to ensure that only authenticated users can access the Help File as well as the Training File (which is actually a separate RH file). The primary goal is this:When a User logs into the main application, there is a Help File link on the top navigation ribbon. When the User clicks this button, it opens a new tab in the User's browser so they can navigate the Help File. .Our goal is to ensure that the contents of the Help File are restricted to authenticated users only. This means that the Help File can only be accessed in two ways:General Access. Basically, the idea is, if the User launched the Help file from the application, we could use the security token to automatically log them in and simply open the Help file - the user wouldnt need to log in a sec
I'm trying to force the WebHelp browse sequence buttons to behave like the forward and back buttons in a CHM. I've added the buttons and modified the java script files per the RoboWizard's instructions. The buttons show up and work correctly, but the button appearance is not consistent. What I mean is, sometimes when navigating to the next topic the previous button will show the disabled icon and the next button will show the enabled icon. You can still click the previous button (disabled icon) to navigate to the previous topic but you can't click the next button (enabled icon) because you're at the end of the list. This behavior is inconsistent in regards to where you are in the table of contents, but it is consistent in which specific topics show which button. I've moved topics around and compiled multiple versions. The same topics show the same (incorrect) enable/disabled icons in each build.I'm currently using the same icon for enabled and disabled as a temporary fix. Does anyone ha
Hello! I'm using RoboHelp 9, attempting to publish a project as WebHelp Pro from my local drive to a shared drive. It worked once, but is now giving me a strange error (which I've seen previousl):I've just rebooted and am running no other instances of RoboHelp, nor can I think of any reason the .cpd file is being accessed by another program. I have confirmed that the .cpd is in the source folder. What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?!Thanks in advance.
I would like to change the auto list numbers from the formatting tab. I need to change the color and the font. I have made a new numbered list, but it's a nuisance to have to keep picking it from the Styles all the time.
Has anyone used RoboHelp 2015 with Symantec TFA (Two Factor Authentication) ??
AFTER DELETING THE .CPD FILE I TRIED TO REOPEN THE PROJECT AND I GO THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES ENDING WITH THIS ONE BELOW
The idea was to have topics that would show some of their sections in the table of contents but bookmarking the level-2 headings; however, those topics, when compiled, became books. Not something we can't live with, but it isn't what we'd planned.Any way to keep topics with bookmarks as topics, instead of turning into books?thanx!Lon
Hi Everyone,I am really frustrated right now, and am ready to throw RH out the window. I am using RH 10 [10.0.1.292] on Windows 7 Professional with SP1 and 16GB of RAM. There have been no major changes to my computer other than the standard patches/updates that are routinely pushed down to us at work. I have not installed any new software.I have been working on the same project file for the last 6-9+ months. I have not changed directories. I have not changed file names. I have not changed computers. My build from September 25, 2015, (which was our most recent product release) looked and worked beautifully. However, on January 8, 2016, I updated our copyright date and made one or two other typo fixes, and then did another build. Apparently this is when everything went haywire. MOST (but, curiously enough, not ALL,) of the graphics within my chm file had been replaced with the "broken link/missing graphic" symbol. Here is a sample:The really bizarre thing is each and every graphic,
I excluded files from a project (Microsoft HTML Help) using NOT_Off and it seems that RH2015 doesn't care about it and compiles the filesnonetheless.BTW, where is the windows below the project window gone where one could find the html projects listed? How do I copy an existing HMTL_Help project?--Christoph
Can you publish single helpfiles to the RoboServer instead of all of them or just those updated since the last publish date?
I am creating some training documentation that will need to be printed. I added a new topic to my project and generated it in my primary layout (web help) and the topic was there. But when I generated the project as printed documentation the topic is not there. Help!!:(
Is this possible in RH 2015? Don't seem to be able to get it to work without the snippet being shown below my list or paragraphe.g. 1. step step step2. step step stepsnippet snippet3. step step stepORthis is my fancy new introduction but I can't put a snippet in the middle of these words.snippet snippet snippetWhat I want is the snippet to be part of step 2 or drop within the sentence I have. I've seen old topics from years ago say this isn't possible...hope that's still not the case. Thanks,Nick
I'd love to know why this happens and if there's anything I can do about it in my current project. I tried changing the width back to the default, but that only moves the logo back and does not reinstate any other elements. At this point, it appears that I will not be able to insert my wide, rectangular logo since I would never want to alter the width going forward. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Note: This is related to my recent post: "How do I get the filter checkbox back? I did not alter these graphics in the Layout Customization tool." 1. Test project output before change:Custom blue TOC booksThree books with topicsBooks can be opened and closedLogo is at default 7emFilter checkboxes normal2. Test project output after change:Custom blue TOC books changed colorBooks can be opened but not closedLogo is at custom 20em widthFilter checkboxes abnormalThanks and best regards!
I just installed Robohelp 2015 upgrade from Robohelp 10, and am getting ready to work on my 30 child projects. Do I need to recompile the parent before publishing? Do I need to compile ALL the child projects before publishing?
Is there any way to prevent RoboHelp from putting bsscftp.txt files in all output folders when publishing? (Except not using the "Publish" button and just generate the output, which is not an option in my case.)Although the file name indicates that bsscftp.txt should be related to FTP transfer only, RoboHelp ALWAYS creates the files, no matter which connection protocol you choose in the "Publish" settings (FTP / File System / HTTP / SharePoint). Is there any good reason for that? If not, I will file this as a bug on Adobe Bugbase. My guess is that the files are used to check if a file already exists in the target folder, which can speed up the file transfer. But there's usually very little need for that when using File System transfer. I'd rather have a clean output directory than a marginal increase in speed that I don't need when transferring within my fast corporate network.
Hi all,\Running in to an issue creating PDFs from RH 2015.Can't generate from the sample propjects either. RH is install on C:\. Total file name path etc is only 98 characters. Can create a PDF manually from Word docs. We are on office 365.Have installed the reg change on Peter Grainge's website. Last bit of the log goes like this...Failed the generate PDF file 'C:\RH_Projects\NAMEWNAME\NAMENAME\!SSL!\Printed_Documentation\NAMENAME.pdf'...Failed to save 'NAMENAME.doc'...Cleaning up temporary files...Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Printed Documentation.
I'm using RoboHelp 10 and the WebHelp to CHM Converter. I've customized the About page (whskin_banner.htm) in my WebHelp output and removed the "powered by..." text. This file is overwritten when I run the WebHelp to CHM Converter. Is there any way I can keep my customizations when using the converter?
Do you want to serve different content to different audiences?Like: Different regions or different types of users? Or give your users the chance to filter your help by product variants? With RoboHelp (2015 release) you can do exactly this. And it's as easy as 1-2-3. Tag your content, set the new "Dynamic Content" filters, specify which one to display/hide by default and publish it to the new Responsive HTML5 help.Check out this post on the Adobe TechComm blog by RoboHelp expert Robert Desprez and see how easy it is:[Guest Post] “Finding Relevant Content Faster with Dynamic Content Filters”, by Robert Desprez – TechComm Central by Ado…
