We are considering upgrading from RH 9 to RH 11. We currently have a substantial help section created in  RH9.  Will they convert easily to RH11?  What issues should we be concerned about?

I'm using the html editor in RH11. I'm trying to wrap a list item in a span tag, but every time I save, the span tag gets moved inside the list tag. Is there away to turn off this auto-correct?

Hi,I finally learned how to used the twisties (I kept looking for show/hide functionality) but I can't seem to figure out where to indent the text that accompanies the twistie. I am creating an FAQ section for Responsive HTML5, and my first question is too long. I have gone through default.css (which is what I am using - I have not created any other style sheet) and layout.css - I cannot figure out where this can be fixed. I have not used any inline styles with the Drop-down hotspot style nor the 10pt_Arial style, which is the paragraph style I am using with the hotspot style.I have checked all the Media on default.css to see if I can fix this for the Arial_10pt style and the Drop-down hotspot style, but I can't find an option to indent the question text.Could someone please tell me how to indent this text?Thanks so much!Pam

I posted this yesterday and for the life of me I cannot find my post today. Anyway, I have two questions now:Does anyone know how to incorporate a hanging indent in text that uses the Drop-down hotspot style? [using Responsive HTML5] I cannot locate in the stylesheet where I can make the blue text below have a hanging indent.2.  How can I apply a style to the Drop-down Text Editor, aside from using inline styles? I've tried using the Drop-down text style - but this style will not accept my formatting changes (I've changed the style for all Media and it still will not accept the new font size - I've also checked HTML Editor. My style changes are there but they will not apply), nor will it apply to the text in the Drop-down Text Editor.Thanks for your help,Pam

Hello,We're using RH11 and the javascript API to show our context sensative help pages, we recently upgraded from RH10 and now the help window always opens to the default topic instead of the specified one.From script we call RH_ShowHelp(0, helpPath + "/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm>SecondaryWindow", HH_HELP_CONTEXT, mapId);That call generates this url and opens it in a new window: http://localhost/rep/Help/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm#<id=16>>wnd=SecondaryWindowThe new window then does further processing and gets the final URL of: http://dev-anelson/Rep/Help/CSH/iSupportHelp.htm#<id=16%3E%3Ewnd%3DSecondaryWindow&t=Overview%2FiSupport_Overview.htm which is our default topic, not the topic mapped to id/number 16.My best guess is that the issue appears to be inside loadcsh.js which tries to load a topic based on the url parameter "rhmapno" and "rhmapid", which are not used anywhere else in robohelp scripts, after those both fail to find the topic, it falls back to the default.I can get

My online help link is supposed to open to a specific topic, however, it keeps opening to the overall TOC page of my RoboHelp project. My map ids are created and the source code for the online help link are the same as my map ids. I can't figure out why the link is not being routed to the correct please.

Currently, I'm using RoboHelp 11, but this problem was also around when I was using RoboHelp 10. My version of RoboHelp 11 is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.Typically, my multilevel lists work just fine. I have an issue that shows up, however, in a very unique set of circumstances: my numbers disappear from my lists when they are nested within drop-down hotspots. Specifically, when they exist within a nested drop-down hotspot within another drop-down hotspot. I've been using RH11 since Jan., and struggling. I have had to manually change my styles in every topic because I can't get them to save in the default.cssFor example, today I would like to use Heading 5. So I opened the default.css, changed the font to Arial 12, changed the colour, clicked on Apply, then clicked on OK. Then I saved the project. However, when I attempt to use this style in my project, it reverts back to whatever style it was before I changed it. When I open the CSS again, the style is exactly the way I changed it, but the changes won't apply to the content in the Design Editor. I have had this problem since day 1. My numbered lists have 12pt text and 10 pt numbers. My bullets have 12pt text and 10 pt bullets.In this example, Heading 5 has been changed and applied (and saved) to the first line of text in the graphic below ("Category strengths are:"). I have a horizontal tabbed panel, but on the screen layout editor, there's a horizontal grey box and the tabs go vertical and disappear. They're there in the html, but I can't edit them with the WYSIWYG. I want to add another tab to the widget, besides the defaults...How do I do this?

RH11 Webhelp Output - TOC won't render, have adjusted LNG file, have adjusted project settings for Webhelp, haveunblocked popups, why does this most basic of all features not work, pls help.

Hi, I experienced this problem before but did not ever find a solution.My laptop recently upgraded from IE 10 to IE 11 and ever since, the contents of the ToC pane in my webhelp projects will not display although they are shown in Firefox.This happened a couple of years ago (with IE 8 I think) and a solution was not found. It was only resolved when my department upgraded to RoboHelp 10. It is not feasible to upgrade our RoboHelp with every IE upgrade however.Does anybody have a solution for this please?Regards,Barbara

So another in my long line of questions in trying to change the implementation of the help systems at my new employer. So, the pressure is to convince the existing guard to toss out the old method and go with a new method... One of the issues has come up for CSH Webhelp (via RH10)... Apparently, in the old method (where every help topic was it's own CHM - no, I'm not kidding).  They kept it that way so that any time a help file was updated, they could just send out that one chm to update that one topic. Now they are worried that if we switch to webhelp using topics in one single big project that we can't just send out a single updated file any more... So I'm trying to get ammunition as to how updates to the help can be distributed without it being a big hassle...We do have small updates that go out about every week, and they are afraid that going to the webhelp (1 project with lots of topics) method will require more time and effort for the techs because they will have to complete

I am using RoboHelp HTML 10.In my project, I want to link to a bookmarked section of a topic in another .chm.  Is this possible, or can I only link to the .chm itself?I'm happy to provide more information if it's needed; I'm not sure where I need to start.Thanks!

I'm using RH11, and my employer wants to publish our software for our December 1 release in about 50% WebHelp and 50% .CHM format.    They said that they are having issues with the .chm format files having compatibility on/compatibility off with different versions of IE that our customers are using, where customers will get a "Compatibility View Settings" window depending on whether they have that on or off.  Because of that, they want me to change the beginning of each HTML file from this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">to this:  <!DOCTYPE HTML>Is there a fast way to do this?  One of my pieces of software has 448 HTML topics!I tried search and replace, but that did not work.  They want this done regardless of whether the end release will be HTML or .chm.Thanks!

I have an RH 11 project on a network drive. The project has 485 snippets. When adding or modifying snippets I get the following error:An error occurred while trying to read data from <n:\roboHelp Projects\\rhsnippet.apj <1>.When I open the rhsnippet.apj file, the file is truncated like this:<file>            <name>mysnippet.hts</name>            <comments></commentsIt seems that RoboHelp cannot complete writing to the APJ file.After closing and reopening the project, I then get a message saying the cpd is corrupt. After deleting the cpd and reopening the project, I still get a message saying the project is corrupt.The only way I have found to fix the project is to move the project back to a local drive, delete the cpd, delete the rhsnippet.apj file and re-import all the snippets.I have seen a similar issue which was resolved by moving to anot

We are considering upgrading from RoboHelp HTML 9 to RoboHelp HTML5 11. With all of our output files accessible by our customers, we want to ensure our content is always available to address their questions. When doing an upgrade to RH 11 will opening and outputting the files be seamless or will the files need tweaks to get them ready for publication? How much time would it take to adjust one page, if it's needed?Any insight/experience you have with this topic to share is most appreciated.Thank you.

What are the capabilities of a trial? Can a full fledged project be created with a trial?

Ok I admit I am new to this, coming from a print background. I decided to try Robohelp so I could see more about what was happening, rather than just relying on output from Framemaker so I've been learning some basic HTML and CSS (still very much a beginner, but learning steadily) and it seemed sensible to learn some basics and then learn some HTML5. I (perhaps naively) expected to be able to use HTML5 tags in the Robohelp editor as it outputs to HTML5 as an option. But they don't seem to work. Am I right that they don't work? Why not?and.......A call out to the experts out there...  I'd love to see a webinar on controlling video/mp4 in FM & Robohelp.... getting sizing right and poster frames and control bars and responsiveness and dealing with it when it goes wrong....I'm using mp4 exported from powerpoint and it just doesn't work. Robohelp insists on putting quicktime (not installed on my pc) code in for video... and puts it back in even if I delete it.oh and another separat

I have a several projects that are multi-language. One in particular is translated in 20 different languages. Based on RoboHelp's suggested method for creating projects in multi-languages, I created the topics first in English, then made a copy of each topic selecting the desired language in the properties. However, now when the software changes, I have to make the same changes 20 times and it's very time consuming. My translators don't have RoboHelp so I can't send them the English and their language file for comparison and have them make the changes. Does anyone have any suggestions on simplifying this process?In addition, when I send the .html files to the translators, I ask them to use Notepad, WordPad, or some other HTML editor to retain the formatting, links, etc. If they use Word, I loose all this information and have to copy and paste their text which is also time consuming. Has anyone had success with files translated in Word?  What application is recommended for translat

I'm looking to test a plugin (of sorts) with any RH 11 Webhelp output that uses categories and browse sequences. A generated Webhelp output of the Salesbuilder 2 sample project would suffice. I am writing help content for software that has two essential components - one web-based and the other a locally installed app (our users work in both). I need the help documentation to be available from both and I wanted to use the new responsive HTML5 layout to make it accessible from a PC, tablet or smartphone while publishing from a single source, but the locally installed app allows users to work offline so I need the help to also be accessible when a user works offline. Is this covered with responsive HTML5 publishing or do i need to publish the documentation to an application help viewer as well?I apologize if there is an obvious answer to this. I would like to launch a URL outside of the CHM frameset, in a new browser window, from the CHM's table of contents.Manipulating the TOC item's options on the Advanced tab under Window or Frame doesn't seem to impact the output at all. I would be grateful for any suggestions....Thanks!

I have a WebHelp system that I originally generated in RH9. Pages from that generated output seem to do fine when I use translate.google.com to translate them, regardless of browser. However, I've subsequently upgraded to RH11, and now the new generated output causes problems in some browsers. Specifically, the error message in Firefox (v. 33.0.3) is "Error: Permission denied to access property 'whname'," pointing to line 10 in whproxy.js. Chrome (38.0.2125.111m) gives the following error message, pointing to the same line in the same file: "Uncaught SecurityError: Blocked a frame with origin "http://translate.googleusercontent.com" from accessing a frame with origin "http://translate.google.com".
