My team is running into a problem with auto generated lists in RH10. When you create a bullet/numbered list in RH or import a document with bullet/numbered lists, the lists show up correctly in design view. However, once you view the topic in a web browser, the bullet points and numbers appear to the far left. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on and how we can fix this? I've included images below.Design view (shows correctly):Web broswer view (issue is appearing in both IE and Chrome):
I have tried to create a silent install for Adobe Roboehelp 11 using AAMEE v. 3.1 but after inserting "product installation folder", "package name" and "save to" and choosing "next" the picture just greys out.If if choose "next" again I get to the options page but it is empty.I tried using an older version of AAMEE and here I can create an unserialized build but it wont accept the my license code (which works fine if I install manually)Does anyone know how to solve this?I am using Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 64 bit.Best Regards,Christian Roejbaek
Please help - this issue is sapping up valuable hours and I can't find a solution. I've created a nice new responsive HTML 5 layout in RoboHelp 11 - however the Title Bar font is not rendering the size as stipulated in the editor. This seems to be project specific as I can use stock and other Screen Layouts with the same result. I exported my custom Responsive Layout into a new project and it behaved as it should. The generated result I get (illustrated above) has an incorrect font size in the Title Bar, the point size of this font should be much larger. I've checked through just about every project setting and I have no idea why it is doing this.Doing the same with the stock Responsive Screen Layout:Is someone able to shed some light on this, your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Hello - I am trying to migrate an entire help system built in "Doc to Help" over to Adobe Robohelp as seamlessly as possible.Any/all comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks everyone - Cheers, Keith (techwriterguy)
I purchased Adobe Technical Suite 2.0 several years ago and it's worked super on my Windows XP PC. I've installed the suite on my new PC with Windows 7, but when I try to open a help project using RoboHelp 8 I get the following error message:"This project is from a vewer version of the program. This project is no longer compatible with this version. Please make sure you have the newest version installed."My department cannot purchase a newer version of Adobe Technical Suite this year, so I have to continue using RoboHelp 8. Please advise as to what I need to do in order to edit my current Help Projects using RoboHelp 8 on my new PC with Windows 7.Thanks!
Hello,I am contemplating creating a new project from scratch from the monster that my current RH9 HTML project has become. I would appreciate advice on whether this is the best approach and if so, how to proceed. Here is background:I have an RH9 HTML project with 3500+ topics. This project was created with the first version of RoboHelp, back in the Blue Sky software days, about 15 years ago. Each time the RH software was sold to a new company, we ran into major issues with conversions and upgrades. The project kept growing and several times we ran into problems that had to be escalated to the top levels of support with the current owner of the software. Many times the best we could do is create workarounds. The number of files created over the years for this project has become enormous and I'm sure there are many which could be safely deleted but I'm not sure how to find out which ones without lots of trial and painful error. The most recent issue that came up was the sudden disappearan
I just upgraded from TCS 3.5 to TCS 5.I use FM as my source and RH WebHelp as my output. My numbered lists all start at 0 now. Before I upgraded, In RH 9 (TCS 3.5), I created RH Styles and used the following numbering format: Format: <x>Numbering: decimal: 123Prefix Style: NoneI mapped my FM style to the RH Style.Numbers worked fine:Now, they are all zeros:When I open a topic and look at the HTML page, it has added this: start="0"If I delete the start="0" text and then click back on the Design Tab, the numbers appear:Where is the 0 coming from? I can't find a setting anywhere.Thanks.
Hi all: I was trying to integrate the .net web application with robohelp. I tried calling the helpfile generated using robohelp.RH_ShowWebHelpmethod was used to call .It internally called private bool ShowHelpURL(string strURL)method. But i am getting an error ActiveX control '8856f961-340a-11d0-a96b-00c04fd705a2' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment.WebBrowser m_browser = new WebBrowser();if (m_browser != null){m_browser.Navigate(strURL);m_browser.Visible =true;return true;}return false;is giving issue because mine is webapplication. the solution they say is add STTHREAD section. Can anybody guide me in proper direction in integrating the .Net web application with robohelp.
HiI am using FM11. RH10 as part of TCS4.Last year I had created a master page and settings file (ISF). We are now revising it. Some of our styles have images associated with them (Style name > Format > Borders and Shading > Shading > Pattern). My workflow:1. Open a blank RH project.2. Link FM book. All the FM files are imported. But there are no images in the Project Manager pod > Images folder yet.3. Associate and apply the ISF file. Images show up in the Images folder. But they have this X mark against them. So I assume they are just some sort of placeholders yet. I check the topic where these images are used. They are empty as well.4. Import the master page. I get a message that images are also imported. The X mark against the images are gone and they show up in the topic as well. That is how it worked in the previous version, which was correct. Now, that is not happening. Steps 1 to 3 work fine. But when I import the mast
Hi,I am using RH 10 for the past few months.I had imported few html files (with images) into RH and they seem to appear fine on preview (view selected item)But while publishing into pdf, I find the images are missing the printed output. But the content remains the same. Why is this so?Please help me.regards,Nalini
I have recently been migrated to Windows 7 (from XP) and at the same time needed to upgrade from Robo 8 to version 10. Once I upgraded my child project files and master project (no choice), my child projects simply blink or strobe when I try to view them in the Master. My users prefer to use the consolidated master project view (one access point) as opposed to multiple access points for each of my child projects (I have 14!!). I have read the Merged webhelp guide prepared by Peter Grainge but I am confused about the redirect which is something I've never had to do before. The Robohelp 10 Guide does not mention anything about a redirect. How do I get my Master project back on track? Any suggestions?
On May 17th I purchased three software applications: Adobe RoboHelp 11, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Adobe Captivate 7. I’ve spent a few hours on the phone with a technical person. The issues were too complex to be dealt with, and I knew I needed to have my issues escalated. I’ve also printed a wide range of “how to” from your support pages. I finally gave up. I’m beginning to get frustrated to the max. I’ve purchased other software programs and the Adobe products are the only applications I cannot easily install. It is hard for me to spend hours day after day trying to get to the right person. I’m going to give a summary of my problems. Please take this and escalate it. I’ve also purchased a new computer. I scoped out the requirements for these three programs with specifications in mind. This should not be an issue. The best way to reach me is my email vs. phone. When I get instructions for how to proceed, I prefer a one-on-one with the phone. The preferred number is: 561-366-7122.Error M
When I generated WebHelp with an old (~v5) version of RoboHelp I got the TOC in a panel down the left hand side of the screen. I am now using RH v10 and I don't get the panel on the left. The TOC appears at the top of the document (when I look at the html file in IE9) and the links work correctly. Can anyone tell me how get the TOC panel on the left?
Situation:Writer A is running RH10. Writer A opens Project A, from Visual Studio Source Control, which is connected to a Team Foundation Server.A new employee, Writer B, has been given RH11. Writer A can't install RH11 until after mid-June because of tight schedules (can't afford any upgrade problems).Writer B is supposed to work on the same Help project. (We know that RoboHelp does not support checking out the same file at the same time.)If Writer B configures her version of RH11 to work with TFS and Source Control, can she open Project A and work on it (from Source Control) without causing problems for Writer A?Thanks.Carol Levine
Hi,I have set up Zoomsearch for a Javascript platform based on Peter Grainge's instructions and it works. I tried to do the same for an ASP platform. First, I couldn't get the Search page to load, but that was because the Whskin_tbars.js was pointing to the search_template.html and I had it as search.html. Now, I can get the Search page to load, however, it only shows the text on top and not the search box. This is what I see now:Search this siteEnter one or more keywords to search for using the Zoom Search Engine.Note that '*' and '?' wildcards are supported. Has anyone come across this issue? How can I fix this? Gail
I am using RoboHelp 11 and would like to print pages using the Advanced Options - Include drop-down text option. I have discovered that this option does NOT work when the drop-down text is in a snippet. Are there any known work-arounds for this "feature" besides copying and pasting the snippet content into the page being printed? While I know this works, it defeats the purpose of reusing the snippet and knowing where that content is being used throughout the project.
Hyperlinks from another FM document of the same FM Book does not work in RoboHelp after an FM inset. But hyperlinks from the same FM document works in Robohelp after an FM inset. All the hyperlinks work in PDF. Note: The hyperlinks are not within the text inset but outside the text inset. As long as it is after the text inset, from that point onward, the links will not work (if they point to another FM doc).eg:text insetcontenthyperlink broken (from another FM doc of same FM book)Please help. It would be a pain if this does not work at all.Kai
Hi all,in this project I am importing from Framemaker and generating Javahelp output. The Javahelp does not work when there are non-ASCII characters in the topic filenames (such as accents or umlauts). Therefore I have to adjust the file naming in the imort settings to "<$filename_no_ext>-<n>". As a result I get topics with numbered filenames and all seems well.BUT with this setting the Javahelp displays the totally cryptic filenames of the topics as search results. Why does Robohelp not create a search database with the topic titles as search results? How do you handle Javahelp projects for non-english languages?Robert
I have created a Help File using RH10. I have been asked to find the pros and cons of between the five different generated outputs. I have searched the forums and have not really found a solid answer. Can anyone answer this question for me? I am new to RH and the extent of my training is from lynda.com and using the application.I have been told that FlashHelp and WebHelp are the best options when dealing with multiple users. Thanks!
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!I have a project in RH8 on a computer with Windows XP. I copied the project and put it on a different computer with RH9 and Windows 7.I did not change the folder/files names, and the project opened just fine on the new computer in RH9. For generating/publishing, the directories/file names/publishing location, etc. are identical for both the RH8 and RH9 projects. However, after generating and/or publishing the RH9 project in WebHelp, the left navigation pane is empty. After generating the RH9 project in FlashHelp, the TOC displays, but after publishing, the left navigation pane is empty even though it was there after generating. Additionally, the RH9 project displays the FlashHelp skin after generating, but displays a WebHelp skin after publishing.Help!
I opened my online help this morning, and RH11 has applied the template to every page in the file, so I now have a duplicate template when I generate. I need to fix this fast as I have a deadline - I don't know how this happened, but how do I fix it? (IE10, Responsive HTML5).Here's a small shot of what it is doing:
Hi. I'm wondering if any of you can direct me to a source(s) of best practices for RoboHelp use. (I'm asking of course about resources appart from Mr. Grainge's fine site.) Type type of topics might inlcude such things as:Tips and tricks for importing from Framemaker.Style tips. For example, the best stype to use for the title of a topic. (RH's tutorials use Header 1 as for topic titles, as opposed to some user-defined "Title" style. This suggests Header 1 would be used only once in a topic!)Text and design tips to enhance the end-user experience. Many thanks in advance!-Kurt
Hi experts. Is there a way to determine the unused styles in an entire project, then safely delete them? When I start deleting a style, the prompt just asks if I'm sure I want to delete it. There's nothing like "Wait! this style is used at least one topic. If you delete this style, the text will be formatted with <some default?> style."Related question: Is there a way to locate topics in which a particular style is used? Thanks!Kurt in San Jose
We bought RH for windows in 2012. It came with the HTML version 9 and Robo Help for Word 8...which must have been upgraded in the background to RH 9 for Word, because that is what is now showing in "About RoboHelp" and that is not what was originally showing. Is there a RH for Word 10? We have two projects that will not convert nicely to HTML, lost a ton of external links, so for those I have to stick to RH for Word. If there is a 10 we might be interested in getting so I can use Word 10.
(Peter Grainge's fix for this does not seem to work in RoboHelp 11)I want a centered table, with the table cell contents aligned left. However, centering the table causes all text to be centered in the outputs. Is there a fix for this that does not involve editing CSS code?Thank you.
