RoboHelp

I'm using MS Word 2013 and created an index as well.  Then I've imported the Word document into RoboHelp 11 and selected the checkbox to have my index converted. But instead of text displayed, link are displayed. This is the case for both HTML5 and chm outputs. Is there perhaps a setting in RoboHelp 11 that must be changed?

Hi. I'm planning a migration from FM (unstructured) to RH. I'd appreciate any tips and best practices for the migration process. (Note that at the moment I plan to import the FM documents into, not link to them from, RH.)For example, my current FM files are presently not optimally "chunked", so that autoconverting FM file sections (based on, say, Header 1 paragraph layout) won't always result in an optimal topic set. I'm thinking of going through the FM docs and inserting dummy paragraphs with a tag somethike like "topic_break", placed in more appropriate locations that the existing headers. Then, during import to RH, I'd use the topic_break paragraph to demark the topics. Is this a good technique? Beyond paragraph-based import delineation, do you know of any guidelines for redrafting FM chapter file content into RH topics?Also, are there any considerations/gotchas in the areas of text review workflow, multiple authoring, etc. after the migration? I'm running RH11 on Win7 Pro and creating a help system in WinHelp format. When I save and generate my help system and view it from my local drive, it looks fine. However, after I publish the help system to a network drive, any numbered/bulleted paragraphs have been moved to the left...sometimes so far that the number or bullet is off the left edge of the frame.This happens both when I use the Publish command to publish the help files to the network drive AND when I copy the contents of the !SSL!/WebHelp folder to the network location.Can anyone explain why this is happening and what step(s) I can take to fix the problem?This is urgent!!! Hello,I am creating a skin for Webhelp.By default, the company logo image that is defined in the About dialog box, is appearing on the right-corner of the Webhelp window. Is there any option where I can move this to the left-corner of the Webhelp window i.e., exactly on top of the Navigation pane? Generally, the background image defined under Background section displays as a banner from left to right on top of the Webhelp window. But I want it to start displaying immediately after the company logo from the left side.I did not find options to modify to get the above described output. Do I need to edit code in some files?Can someone please let me to get this ouput.Thanks in advance

RH10 | WebHelpWe've moved our WebHelp outputs from an externally maintained server to an in-house server, but the left-hand navigation pane isn't displaying in our merged Help system. In our user guide (which isn't merged) the pane displays fine, but in our release notes (which is a merged system) it doesn't want to show itself. The main navigation pane and topic pane are fine, it's just the left-hand navigation pane that's blank.I'm running IE9, but the weird thing is that it displays correctly in Firefox. It also works when run locally. Both Help systems worked absolutely fine on the previous server, so I'm wondering if there's a conflict with something else that's running on the new server (e.g. our website's CMS, etc.) or whether it's a permissions thing?My issue seems similar to other posts on here, but I'm using IE9 not IE11.I'd be grateful for any ideas.ThanksJonathan

Hello,I am using RH9 to create HTML chm help files. I have two conditional tags setup. All works correctly to build the chm. I would like to somehow display the contents for each conditional tag.  This is not a problem for someone who has RH9 as you can go to reports to see the topics that are associated with each tag and then view the topic which shows text associated with a tag.However, if a manager needs to review what goes with each tag but doesn’t have RH9, how would I give them something that shows them the content that goes with each tag?  Giving them 2 different chm files to compare won’t do it because there is just too much content to determine the differences.ThanksJohn

I converted a RoboHelp 9 project to RoboHelp 10 this morning. If I go to the Font list in the toolbar the only thing I see is Arial and Times Roman. As suggested in one of the the questions, I created a new project file and the fonts are listed correctly. Then I copied the rhfontset.apj from the new project file to the converted project file but that did not change anyhing. Is there something else I can do?

I made updates to a user manual and now I am unable to open one of the folder links.  It is one of the folders in which I made updates.  When I try to open the folder, the file freezes and all the other files freeze up to.  Other files can be opened, but only if I do not open the problem file first.  I am very new to RoboHelp, did I generate and publish incorrectly?  I am trying to find a way to fix this problem.  Thank you.

We have a problem with the HTML tags that RoboHelp 10 automatically writes around a symbol when I insert a symbol such as the trademark TM.  Is there a way to stop this function?  Right now, I am doing a copy and paste from a text file that I created.  Here's what I've found in the Help topic file code:<?rh-symbol_start name="Trademark" ?>™<?rh-symbol_end ?> We send our Help projects to an outside translation service and the translation software has a problem with something in this tag pair.Thank you.

Hi,When I create a merge chm-project via the command line (rhcl.exe), then the generated hhp file contains absolute paths to the child chm files, instead of relative paths. The result is that the index and search does not work when opening the merged chm when the files are on another location. This seems a bug to me?regards,Peter

Does Webhelp from RH 11 dispal correctly in Safari and Firefox browsers?

Hi all, there is no offtopic-section so I'l just post this here. Today we searched through our really old office equipment. Among the oldest software I found were Framemaker 4 and Robohelp 3, including the untouched documentation (thick as phonebooks).I wonder, does anybody still have the first version? Does "Robohelp 1" even exist or what was the name back then?Robert

In the FrameMaker book I have imported an Excel file as an object. File>Import>Object>Create from file> then I chose Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet >Create from file> Display as icon . When I click on the Excel icon Excel opens and I can see the worksheet . When I link to FrameMaker from Robohelp to create a Robohelp project, that icon gets pulled into RH as an image without the link to Excel. How do I get the link to pull into Robehelp? What I really want to do is just have a "click here" hyperlink in FM instead of an icon but I don't know how to do that either

TCS 4Linked FrameMaker bookHTML Help outputIn several FM text insets, I have added a cross-reference to a topic outside of the inset.In the HTML Help output from RoboHelp, some (but not all) of the cross references are broken--they look like links, but the cursor does not change to a pointing finger and no jump occurs when you click.And although the FM "Heading & Page" cross-refs are set to convert to <$paratext> in RH, the broken HTML Help links retain the "on page x" part of the FM style. Again, other cross-refs in the insets convert correctly and are active. Even within the same inset, some cross-refs convert correctly, and some don't.Finally, I have some FM insets that have table cells with images in anchored frames (toolbar buttons with descriptions). The images are missing in the HTML Help output.Are these cross-ref and image issues fixable, or is this a limitation of the FM --> RH integration?Thanks.

My IT department wants to know whether my version of RoboHelp (version 😎 is compatible with Microsoft Server 8.  They also want to know whether it can be virtualized.  We are moving to Windows 7 from XP within a month and they will be upgrading my server at the same time.I've Googled and looked on the Adobe pages, but cannot find an answer.  Help?Thanks,Holly

So I author inside of RoboHtml and one of our outputs is a printed output. I'm pretty sure RH doesn't have an option similar to Word's "Keep with next" option for Heading styles, but figured I'd ask to be safe? If not, are there any workarounds to accomplish the same thing at the source level that doesn't involve post processing on the resulting doc file?

I created a User's Guide for Windows for our birding software in RoboHelp 10 and generated the files I need using Microsoft_HTML_Help (under single source layout.) It looks great!Now I simply need to duplicate the entire Users Guide but name it "Mac Version." Then I need to tweak a few pages and save it [ as Web Help ?? ] I created a new RoboHelp Project named Mac Users Guide that has no content. I must be one step away from finishing, but I do not see exactly what to do next. Clicking New and Import is not the answer and renaming is not the answer. I realize that this is a really stupid question - but I just need a simple answer! Thanks. 

Hi,I'm currently evaluating the new version of RH10.I'm trying out the new Multiscreen HTML 5 layouts and have set up a desktop layout and am investigating configuring it for my company's look & feel.The Multiscreen settings dialog gives you the option to select a TOC, Index, Glossary, etc of your choice, but it doesn't appear to let you opt out of using one! How can I opt out of having a glossary? RH8 allowed you to choose which tabs you wanted.Am I missing something?Thanks for any help.Feebeegeebee

TCS 4Linked FrameMaker bookHTML Help outputWhen I open a previously working project and go to update the FrameMaker files, the Update and Update All options are greyed out.A possible culprit is that Windows Update ran automatically while the project was open, and then restarted the machine.If I Force Update All, RH launches an instance of FM, which doesn't open anything and remains on its startup screen. If FM is already running with the book + .fm files open, another instance of FM starts w/o loading any files. RH then hangs, going into a "Not responding" state in Task Manager.If I start a new blank project and attempt to link to the FM book, RH launches another blank instance of FM and hangs.I tried opening the project and exporting the project settings in an .isf file, but RH hangs trying to scan.i tried relinking the FM book, but RH launches another blank instance of FM and hangs.i tried deleting the book, but RH hung partially through the deletion.i tried reinstalling RH. I seem to recall seeing a place, somewhere in Robo 10, where I can change widgetmax.com to something else. I've gotten my first complaint from a reviewer about this. Where do I go to change it?

How do I repeat the last action or command in Robohelp 11? I don't see this option in the Edit menu. I also tried Ctrl+Y & no reaction.
