Hi, We are trying to find a way to query a given output's color mode. It, however, is not obvious on how to do that, because the output inherits its color mode from its input. In the previous approach that we tried, we were assuming that there was a bitmap feeding into that channel, but we learned that it is not always the case. Ideally, we don't want to have to traverse the graph upstream from the output node at all. Is there is a direct way to query the output color mode? Thank you!
Hello, I am in need of creating an asset in Designer but I have zero experiance. If someone could help, I would really appreciate it. I need to create a dynamic straight line. I need to be able to add width and length to it. (and rotate it) If anyone can help me, I am desprate and dont have any idea where to start. If all else fails, I can go to photoshop or Illustrator and draw some lines, bring them into painter, and adjust from there. I thought having an asset I can easiliy adjust in Painter would be ideal however. My ideal asset would be an "L" shape that would do the same thing for each of the legs, allowing one of the legs to be set to zero so it turns into a straight line. I hope that made sense. If you are able to either make this for me or point me in the right direction, I would be so grateful. Thanks for your time, Dean
Hi guys,Thanks for your patience in this post. I am a programmer and a newbie in Adobe Substance 3D.I want to implement an image twisting and scaling effect by programming (just like scripting in Maya or Blender or Houdini), and would like to learn more about scripting as well.Would anyone please be happy to show me a tutorial about scripting in Substance Designer? Can this effect be implemented in Substance? Thanks for your time!
Hi My PC/Substance designer just crashed, and when I try and reload the substance I get 'Failed to read version of URL "file///C:....... {Rest of file location} Any ideas on a fix or is the substance lost forever? Thanks
Hi , i have this material that i scanned and imported in substance designer , its a tulle with embroidered squares on top. Some of them have pleats and some are pretty flat, and the one that have pleats do not come out as i want in the render . The height of them is not recognized 😕😕 Im pretty new to substance and i cant figure out what nodes to use for this ! please help !

Hello! I'm having an issue where every time I open my document an rgb-a_split.sbs dependency can't be found and needs to be located, and it's looking for it in an old version of the project. I use that node several times in my file, but theres one that has 0 occurances and the path never saves. It always reverts to that old location. When I right click and select remove, nothing happens. If I right click and select update, it lets me relocate the sbs, but the path doesn't update in the dependency manager and I keep getting the prompt to locate it when I open my working document. I'm also wondering why there are so many of this node listed in the files column, should it just be iterated in the occurance column? Lastly, I see there are some listed as rgba_split.sbs and some are listed as rgb-a_split.sbs. As far as I can remember I'm just adding these nodes using the UI in the substance graph. Thanks. Seems to be a similar issue in this query:https://community.adobe.com/t5/
Because I'm reusing a package as template. Everytime I create a new version of the package, it seems like the dependencies list grows longer. Now I'm having 409 errors and their status are "unused". The remove button in the drop down menu doesn't do anything. I also checked the API and I couldn't find "delete dependency" function either. Is there a way I can delete those unused dependencies? And what's the best practice working with dependencies? Thank you!
I recently discovered that designer lets you create groups of presets for exposed input parameters. This is a revalation for me. However, when I make a preset, the "publish .sbsar file" command stops working. I select the command from the menu and nothing happens. It's not greyed out. ⌘P doesn't work either. I made a simple test file with some exposed parameters and presets and publishing works fine. How can I determine what is causing the problem in my actual working document? I've had issues with publishing .sbsar files before but usually I either get an error or the .sbsar file will crash substance player. Having nothing happen is new.
I have a consistently reproducable crash when pressing space to open the node list while editing a pixel processor graph. This crash has been introduced since I've added a wacom cintiq 22 to my system. My suspicion is the crash is display/dpi related, as the node list occasionally displays at high dpi seemingly at random since installing the cintiq. I can confirm that restarting my system and booting with the cintiq disconnected eliminates the crash. This is a critical blocker for my workflow.
Substance Designer freezes my whole pc while show zero cpu or gpu graphs . With evry complex material I see that red text: memory 99% or memory 128%. What kind of memory does it need to work properly? System memory or vram ? Or maybe SSD to store something cashed ? Should I uncheck node image cache or something? I have 32gb system memory and 6gb vram . What should I upgrade?
Hi, I came across an issue about exposed parameters. I added some exposed parameters in the dependency .sbs file and I realize those parameters show up in the right "input parameter " list, however, when I go back to main .sbs file that use this dependency, the input parameter list does not include these new added exposed parameters from dependency. Could you please give me some suggestion about that? Thanks
having some trouble with this normal map https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Id1ApC5sxir5XmqKGVpj-qEd-Dl978-k/view?usp=sharingcan someone help me figure out what i need to do to plug it into my normal node?
Hi,I am trying a few things with the shape Splatter and can't figure out how to get "postion random" in only one direction. Is that even possible? (with functions?)
use baker transferred texture form mesh ,bake normal from UV0 to UV1(use opengl normal)my bake set:Can someone answer my questions?
I have a series of scans that I am trying to transfer textures onto low poly meshes (with UDIMS). I managed fine with the first scan but with 2 others, the textures are coming out black. When I pull these scans into Maya, they have their UV but have to be linked up to the texture, so I do that and then export them out again. I then imported 1 scan back into Maya to check that it is linked to the image automatically and it is (see image) These are still coming out black in substance designer, even when linked with the same file in maya. (see image) I'm new to substance designer and I'm just baking model information HR-LR, is there some setting that I am missing or is there a way to link the image to the model before I render?
I don't know if this is user error or a bug but when I reload a file that has an SVG resource I created I can no longer edit the SVG. I can still create/move control points/shapes but the actual pixels themselves are no longer dynamic. (Windows 10/GTX 1070/Tried this on both renderers)For example I can create this box or move the control points of existing shapes but no pixels are created or updated.
HiI export sbsar from Substance Sampler, they did not include parameter. If I export into Substance Designer then Could we use Substance Designer to export parameter such as roughness, displacement,...? ThankTravis
Hi If we have a set of texture map as below: Could we make a material and export sbsar file with parameter? (I google and search youtube but there no document) Link: [Link removed by moderator] Thank Travis
Hello, I'm newbie in Substance product. Recently, I purchased material (SBSAR & SBS) from Artstation. However I would like to scale down the UV of the material (not sure if this is the correct term) so that it's more "packed". Example shown below. Is there any easy way to do this directly in Designer for all maps at once (basecolor, normal, roughness, metallic, height, AO)? Or what would be the easiest way to do this outside of Designer? I'm thinking about Photoshop but I don't know how to do that while preserving current pixel size, sharpness & details for all of the maps. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Hi I am probably trying to do the impossible here but I have seen many times what looks to be impossible acheived in Designer. I am trying to create a thatched roof texture. The ref pic I am using has steps in the thatch which I have managed to create. However here comes the problem - I want to apply a pattern just to the slopped area (Edge face of step). The reed ends (circles) need to be just on the slope as you can see in the images below. The reed ends would be visible only in the slope. I cannot get them just to appear in the slope and when they do they look distorted. I hope there is a simple solution to this, please let me know if you need further explanation. Cheers!
There is a steam version for Ubuntu. How can I install and license this with my creative cloud license?
I've built an SBSAR that I need to export frames from over time in Substance Player. When I open it in SP, the program either crashes or gives me this error: Linking : Linker Version 8.1.0 0x2c523eda Dec 7 2021Linking : Started.Linking : DoneCannot load Substance 3D binary file Is there a way to debug this? There were no signiciant errors in the console when exporting the SBSAR from Designer. I've been able to open different versions of the file in SP before. It's been a journey.
Hi, everyone here. I'm sorry, but I don't know where to ask this. I often use '2D view' in the SubstancePainter export texture option. We call this Complete Map. I wonder if Substance designer has a 2D view. Because I want to Complete Map in a Substance designer. Thank you.
In my work I've found SD to have tremendous utility building single output graphs for 2D graphics. As such, I often have no use for the 3D view window. It's kind of annoying to have to close it when I've got my UI set up the way I like it, and I am constantly having to do it. Is there a way to prevent it from popping up every time I open or make a new graph? Ideally I would like to save my desired UI as default. Most of it saves, but the 3d window always comes back.
