I'm probably missing something, but I added a layer using the Baked Lighting Stylized filter on a model. On the viewport looks correct but when I go to Iray, it renders some areas black and it's only when I have that layer on.
Hi, I'm trying to add a coat to my metallic shader in Adobe Substance Painter (steam edition) but I can't find any documentation or tutorials on how to do this. I tried adding all the coat related channels to my shader and enabling them on a new layer but it did nothing 😞 is there something I'm missing? I remember allegorithmic having really good tutes and documentation so it's puzzling that I can't find anything with a google search 😕😕 thanks for any help in advance
hello,I have question. I would like to know if this possible. If you have texture into the basecolor slot using a fill layer. Can you extract or create a normal or AO information too?I know that you can use the HBAO filter. Just wondering ifyou can do anything with just basecolor texture and createnormal/ao/height from just one texture. I only have basecolor texture to work with. Thanks
I mostly used Blender's texture painting before, and now I want to give substance painter a try. But I don't know how to export my maps to Blendre easily. I found that there is an official addon for Blender, but it only connects the PRB maps. What I'm doing is highly stylized NPR shading, for example I don't have a "Metalness" map, instead I want to hand paint the metallic glowing on a texture. The same goes for AO. Is it possible to paint these in Substance and easily export them to Blender? Or Substance isnt the right tool here?
Right folks, Have decided to have a machine built only for Substance painter [ different machine from my Mcad machine ] the reasoning being, Substance has diferent needs from Mcad and am not a fan of "halfway house " compromise. hence the new machine. Prelim specs are as follows CPU Threadripper Pro 3955 WX, Cooling to be Noctua , Board Asus Pro WS WRX 80E Sage, Main and secondary drives Intel 750 series, Psu Corsair HX 1200 i Memory, 128 Gb Hyper X [ did initially think about ECC ram but that extra expense is not warranted ]. Gpu Nvidia RTX 3090 [ if the builder can get one !! ] Have always been an Intel guy so this will be my first machine using AMD [ any thoughts ] I could upgrade any / all components if needed ] as these specs are not set in stone yet .
HiI'm new in Adobe Substance Painter. i have exported some textures for other objects before without any problem but this time i got this problem when i wanted to export textures of my model that i sculpted in Zbrush and then i UV unwrapped in 3ds max and then shading Substance Painter.you can see obviously in these pics that i uploaded. My PC Specs:Core i5-8400Nvidia 1070 8GbRam: 16 ddr4
Hello,I have question. I'm using the uv transformations to scale my seats tilling textureto my stand, but I can only scale down to -128. The seats are still to large. Is thereanyway I could make them smaller? Or do I need to do this differently? Thanks so much. Can you get normal information from the the base color texture that I'm using?

Hello, today after one week of vacation I get a white screen when starting SP.I uninstalled everything even the settings. It worked once! I closed Painter and opened it again, "white screen" crash_handler.exe is running.I also tried everything I could find here: https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/technical-issues-162005746.htmlI checked windows health with cmd panel and installed the latest NVIDIA driver, white screenDesigner is working btwIt somehow has to do with a dual monitor setup! When I turn of one monitor in the Nvidia control panel, SP starts. After activating the second monitor again while SP is running it works on both monitors. When closing and starting SP again, I get white screen.https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/substance-painter-doesn-t-start-on-the-right-gpu-182266570.htmldidn't help either
Hi there.I'm using a wacom pen to paint in SP. However, all of a sudden yesterday, Im now unable to use the rotate function which Ive set to one of my pens buttons. Why is this? The rotate function works in other softwares, like Blender. Any idea why this might be?I'm using a Wacom Intuos Pro M.
No matter what FBX file I use or what kind of content they contain, be it just a simple cube or a more complicated model, every single attempt at getting started with this software has been a failure. The only error I get is failed to load 3D scene from [file name and location] and left with nothing else to do but to go out of my way and post this. Any suggestions most appreciated.
Wondering if the light sets from Stager can also be used in Painter? And are there more sets for Painter? Thanks
Hi all,Using the software version:Adobe Substance 3D Painter 7.2.0My issue is how to turn off normal texture dithered in glTF PBR metal Roughness output?I did not find the output configuration template of glTF PBR metal Roughness in output tbmplates Looking forward to your reply Thank you
Hello, i've got a problem with my mermaid I did for a school project. For that I made a fishscale texture in Substance Designer to use it on the mermaids tail. I imported it and set the projection mode to tri planar to encounter those weird seams I dont know how to efficently fix: Its getting worse the more you move down. My teachers told me to try to fix it with the clone tool but I dondt know where to start and make it look nice and even. When doing UV-Projection it gets worse: This has to be possible to fix in some way. Thanks for the help.
I'm trying to bake my high poly mesh onto the low poly. I keep getting weird artifacts on the edges of the maps, (see photos). I noticed the uvs in SP are unsmoothed, whereas they are smoothed in Maya, and it seems like the baking is happening with the hard edged uvs, resulting in the artifacts. Could that be the issue and if so, is there a solution? Side Note: I tried baking with only the low poly mesh and still had the same issue.
Hi guys,I'm loving the MatFX Oil Paint filter, its been a big help on a recent job so I'm hoping to use it again on another one. However I need a bit more fine grain control. In this case I need to completely remove all warping from the brush strokes. We're going for straight square brush strokes and this is almost what we need but I cannot seem to remove the warping from it no matter what I try. You can see warp intensity is set to 0 (on everything, Hightlights, Midtones, Shadows).Anyone have any ideas?Cheers
I am trying to understand how this workshttps://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/remote-control-with-scripting-216629326.htmlRight now I am using a python script to run a command line to open up Painter and import an FBX. I am trying to understand what I can actually do with remote control with scripting. Does that allow me to access python modules inside of a Painter? Or does it allow me to just run python from outside Painter? I see it says I can pass in this paramater (--enable-remote-scripting) when i run my command line, but unsure what I do from there and how that relates to the lib_remote.py and the example they give. ThanksCraig
I can't seem to find a way to store a recent colour selection on a pallete. I'm aware there is a colour selection tool but this is useless for quick accurate colour selection. Would be grateful if someone could let me know where it is.
Hi, I am looking to see if I can do some automation in substance painter using python or commandLine. I would like to open up substance painter and import in a 3d asset using an external script. What would be the best way to do this? Does substance painter have anything built in that i can access from an external script?
Some images are missed in Adobe 3D Painter Documentation. Here is a link for one of the many pages in this documentation. Please relink this images to original images.
Hi. I'm trying to use the 30 day trail of Substance Painter. It opens for a second then crashes.I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it. i have only 28 days now... i'd appresiate any help. thanks!
Hi, I'm trying to follow this unbelievable over engineered steps to implement edit capability of a baked AO map that substance painter has generated. Have attached a screen shot of the documentation page. Are these icon placeholders supposed to be images to better explain this process? Also Original link here: https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/ambient-occlusion-painting-149291090.html
Hi,I have a question about the pipeline Zbrush <-> Substance painter <-> Blender.I have a model sculpted in zbrush and painted the textures in substance painter.I tried to render this model in Blender, but it will just loose some bump details on rendering result. On substance painter, it looks totally fine but when I exported the texturesnormal map, height map, basecolor map, roughness mapand use them in Blender, it just loose the details...so I went back zbrush and exported displacement mapand set it on blender, it looks ok now.my question is how do I export those bump details from Substance to blender? Thank you.Kamihiro
