Delete black background

Community Beginner ,
Feb 16, 2023 Feb 16, 2023

I need to delete the black background of a PDF file on iPhone with Acrobat Reader. I would like to print the file without using all that black ink!

Is that possible?

Thanks

Hi @PesceMirabile,

Hope you are doing well. Per the description, I understand that you want to remove a background from your PDF.

This feature is available on the desktop version of the application. We would like to hear more about the idea. Would you mind filling out the feature request form: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/

Filling out this form ensures that your feedback reaches our product team for them to review and try and implement the feature in the upcoming updates.

In the meantime, you may want to learn more about removing the background on the desktop version from here: Add backgrounds to PDFs,

Hope this helps.

To be more exact I would like to perform an Inverted or Reverse Text Print: my pdf has a black background and a white or yellow text. In the past I worked at Teletext and when we had to print a page we had that function in our application. As you probably know Teletext is text (news and content) on the TV screen: the background is black and the text is white, yellow, red,... Printing normally would mean using tons of black ink, so we used Inverted Text Print. Each color became black and the background white, like it is normally.

Now I would like to print this flyer.pdf and I read I could use Adobe Reader and the layers function.
I will use your links, thanks.

@PesceMirabile  Thank you for getting this to us. This functionality would be better dealt with on the desktop version of the application.

Working with layers on the mobile version will not be possible now.

As Souvik said, this cannot be done in Adobe Acrobat Reader for Mobile. In addition to what he said, here are some other things to try:

  • Some printers can print inverted colors. See if yours does.
  • In Photoshop, Cmd+I (Ctrl+I on Windows) inverts the colors. You might be able to do this with a free or inexpensive image editor if you don't have Photoshop.

I'm trying to think of how to do it in the desktop version of Acrobat DC and quite honestly cannot think of how.

Sorry, but I asked for a solution with the mobile app. This can't be done with the app for iPhone (or I don't know it good enough), so no correct solution.
Thanks, I will consider those options in my future steps.

The correct answer is that it cannot be done on the mobile app and that you can make a feature request at the UserVoice link Souvik provided earlier.
