How can I print the PDF file to ADOBE (as the printer) so it can then save to a PDF file instead of actually printing?

I am using EPIC (medical community, electronic medical record) and I want to save the document as a PDF. The only way seems to be to "PRINT" it as a PDF.  So am looking for a way to install ADOBE PRO as the printer, so that when i click "print" it actually saves it as a PDF with ADOBE

Yes, on Mac OS use the "Print as PDF" button, then choose the "AdobePDF" option.

You can do this, using the Printers Control Panel.

But be sure you understand whether your Epic software is being run on two different computers. For instance, does the software which does the printing sit on a server? If so you cannot do this (and Acrobat must not be put on the server). I see a lot of companies offer some things to improve the printing of Epic. You might find you need an add on to make a PDF.

If you are a user, rather than an administrator, of the system you might find that the administrator has blocked PDF printing because it violates some security policy or other. Keeping a PDF of a medical record may be forbidden under certain regulations, in certain countries... not my area, but be careful.

Thank you for this information - very helpful.  It seems as though you are talking about a solution using a PC.  Can this be done using a MAC?

The product is called Acrobat Pro. It makes a printer available to all apps, so long as this is a normal session, not a server. have you installed it?
