Hi!! I use Bridge daily and always have had 2 - 4 Bridge windows open so that I could easily move files from folder to folder after viewing them. However with the new Bridge update there no longer exists the "File, New Window" option. After several hours, ok a few days...., of toying around and looking through discussion boards I couldn't find any information. Does anyone know how to have more than one Bridge window open with the new update? Thanks in advance.
Hi @Melani Lust just so you know. You CAN do that in the new Bridge. But rather than having multiple windows open, you do that with Multiple Content Panels open.
I do not know if you've ever placed the content of one image into another image in Photoshop, but the approach is the same. First, you need two Content Panels open. There are many ways to do this. If you see a plus (+) in the Content Panel, clicking that will open a new Content Panel, but it will default to a default location. From he
...I believe the secret is in the Undock command. It alows you to resize and move your content pane to where you want it. With two content panes open, you have the functionality that you had before. Hope this helps.

Without multiple windows Bridge is much reduced.
Until this is fixed I will unfortunately be using another tool.

You can still use the older version of Bridge: I'm running version 12.0.3, the version before the October 2022 release when Adobe broke multi-window functionality.
In general, when Adobe releases a clunker version, you can roll back (or not upgrade) to the preceding working version until Adobe fixes it.
While Adobe's release notes always announce what they've added, they seldom reveal what they remove (no matter how crucial it is). I usually ignore the release note marketing puffery and see for myself what they've done. And never install an Adobe upgrade when you're working under a critical deadline, or you may find your deadline goes up in smoke while you sort out how to restore some crucial function. (This especially applies to Acrobat, where they love to hack off or break key features at random.)

Also, I never click the button "remove an older version" when upgrading. I have the newer version and the older version on my dock.

I've never not adapted to a new update version and downgrade before but this is impossible with data handling & file sorting. New content tab is an okay feature and might be okay if it was supported with it's own menu folder index. The reason a lot of creatives duplicate the window is for the menu/ index / the folders and this update deletes that function completely. I used to have 2 menus stacked & migrate my product research data. This is so sad and fustrating! 😞

I need multiple filter panels and cannot use the new version, even if I ignore the numerous bugs. I'm still on Bridge 2022.

Yes, and if someone uses collections and smart collections on a regular basis (as I do) then even the separate folder list isn't a sufficient solution. So I basically need another fully functional window(s) to work as comfortably as I used to. The multiple tabs feature isn't a bad solution on its own, for some people it will do the job. But's just very bad as a replacement of multiple windows.

Absolutely ridiculous to change such a key feature, I multiple windows regularly with their own 'filmstrip' and preview/content panel. It was very useful when comparing folders and files, it's now broken. Adobe, come on! This is a key fearure of Bridge, fix this thing quickly and bring back File -> New Window.

Adobe is very much aware that they removed multiple windows and that numerous customers want that feature restored. This is not an obscure bug or feature request. Just saying.

Thanks for the heads up!
Doing it now, and would encourage others to report it too, better to have the numbers here, so that it may be included in the next update... will be downgrading to an earlier version in the meantime.

My understanding is that restoring multiple windows is a major task, obviously we won't know until some new updates are released but given the number of known bugs and performance, I'd recommend staying on version 12 for now.

Hi @Just as seen I went to the menu item you recommended, but it simply takes me back to Forums, and to look for the forum/idea that I want to comment on, report. Am I missing something? it took me here: https://adobebridge.uservoice.com/ Nice to see their reply in Dec 2022 that "they're working on it" though.

Yes, two windows, three windows, each with one or more Content Tabs, as many as you want, AND THAT YOUR RAM CAN SUPPORT. I've got a lot of ram in my Mac Studio with 64 GB of ram, and I've not reached a limit yet.
Keep in mind ONLY the first window you open will be able to support removable Panels. All subsequent windows will not have that capability*. All subsequent windows will be called "Secondary" in the upper left corner.
* The reason for this is, can you imagine the chaos of multiple floating Content Tabs and not being sure which Window they belong to?
Enjoy and have fun.
