When I try and link my photos, it's not working. I will link a few, save/close. When I open it back up it still says I need to link 24 pictures. HELP!

Did anyone solve this? I've been using InDesign on a MAC for years - before that I used it on a PC - to format books. I have a home office and the files are all stored on a [each book has its own, specific folder] shared Google Drive. I always do the file, place, thing with a new graphic. There are certain reoccuring graphics that I always copy into that art subfolder of that book and then relink to folder. The same thing is happening to me as described above. EVERY time I open a file that has been saved/closed, I do NOT see any links that are missing or have the yellow caution triangle but I'm told there are missing links ... LOTS of them. It doesn't tell me which ones so I don't know if it's the copied in ones or the new ones or both. Then, when I try to relink the file, it's grayed out. What is happening?

Hi @Faith-Action,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Can you confirm if this happens only with files stored on Google Drive? If yes, can you try the suggestions shared in this discussion and let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance?

Thanks

Rishabh

I think this could also be the result of saving the files in some sort of remote location that syncs

I do remote in from home as this is my work computer I am making the cookbook on.

I'm just trying to understand your setup: The files are located on a "work computer" at another location, right? Is this a workstation or some kimd of server where the files are store? Are you working on Mac or Windows and what version of computers? How are you logging into the "work computer"?

It would help if you provided more information about your system: Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running. Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using. Is this a new problem? If so, have you made any changes in your system? Does this happen with EVERY document you try, or just one document?

If it's happening to just one document, try saving it as an IDML file. Choose File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or later [IDML]. Open the IDML file and see if you have the same problem. This can help with corrupt documents.

If all files, I'd suggest restoring your InDesign preferences and caches. Here's how:

Hello,

My InDesign version is 18.0x64. This is my first time using it and I was missing all my links but when I go to link them, nothing is happening. I am making a cookbook so its just the one document.

Thanks!
