P: Import window truncated on the right in many languages

LEGEND ,
Nov 11, 2025 Nov 11, 2025

The Import window is truncated on the right in six languages in Window > Screen Mode > Normal but,  at least for some languages, not in the other screen modes. (I didn't test all combinations.)

Truncation occurs in German (DE), French (FR), Norwegian (NB), Dutch (NL), Polish (PL), and Russian (RU). See the attached screenshots, including one for English (EN) for comparison.

I tested these configurations of LR 15.0.1:

- Windows 11 (ARM): Preferences > Interface > Font Size: 200%, main window size 2670 x 1561, Windows Display Scaling 250%.

- Windows 11 (Intel): Preferences > Interface > Font Size: 250%, main window size 3093 x 2519, Windows Display Scaling 250%.

I casually observed similar symptoms for NL and DE on Mac OS 15.7.1 but didn't thoroughly test Mac.

Since just recent the window "Import" in Lightroom Classic, without me changing anything in the settings,  cuts of half of the right column, and I cannot make it fit withing the window again. So I cannot see, or change some things when I want to import photos.  Is this a bug or do I miss something?

I have never seen this reported before, but resetting the preferences might fix it.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/reset-preferences.html

I guess this could also be caused by using a too high Scaling setting in Windows display settings.

Dear Per, thank you for your reply. Before I try to follow up on your proposal I have two things. First: this phenomenon only occurs in the "import" screen/window, nowhere else in Lightroom. The program funtions perfectly normal but for this glitch. Second: for that same reason I do not think windows scaling settings have anything to do with this. The only thing I can add to this description is that I recently added some AI-presets in the list of presets, bu t it seems strange to me that this would cause this effect.

@Remco22038994r1zd: "Same issue here after the latest Lightroom Classic update.. Tried everthing to restore this but nothing helps.."

Try Per's suggestion of resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

Well, thank you, Per, but that didn't work. I lost all my preferences, but the "import" screen is still off on the right side.

What is your screen resolution?

What percentage is Windows scaling set to?

And what is the font size set to in LrC preferences?

Resolution 1920x1200, scaling 150%, font size = automatic, standard (all as recommanded). And in all three of those I did not change anything before, nor afteer the unfortunate new (mis)setting.

In the meantime I found out I'm not the only one with this problem, and some considered it a bug in Lightoom. Well, I just got an update, 10 munites ago, and I hoped that would cure the problem. But alas, no such relieve. 😞

I also have a 1920 x 1200 monitor, and setting scaling to 150% did not cut off the import dialog.

Try a clean reinstall of LrC.

  • Close Lightroom Classic
  • Restart the computer
  • Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom Classic
  • Restart the computer
  • Install Lightroom Classic via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs
  • Restart the computer
  • Launch Lightroom Classic
  • Wait 5 minutes

Thank you Per, but - since I have already lost all my preferences in the reset suggested earlier - what am I going to loose if I do that reinstalling?

You're not going to lose anything. The catalog and your photos are unaffected by a reinstall.

If you are given the option to keep the preferences when uninstalling, I suggest that you don't keep them.

By deleting them you'll be starting out with the cleanest slate possible after the reinstall.

If you have changed the preferences since the first time you deleted them, you can take screenshots of all the tabs in the Preferences dialog, which will make it easier to restore them later.

@Andrea Scheib

It would be helpful if you would share a screenshot (not phone camera image) of the whole import window.

Pease, use the 'Insert Photos' button as shown in below screenshot

What language are you using in LrC and does the issue occur when application is set to use Engish?

Note that I'm asking above questions as the addition of new UI elements (e.g those associated with Assisted Culling) can sometimes result in UI issues. This usually manifests itself when the application is using some non english languages.

@Ian Lyons: "What language are you using in LrC and does the issue occur when application is set to use English?"

Excellent clue. I tested all 16 languages and observed 6, including Dutch (used by the original poster @Tjeerd29075636o4uq), truncating the Import window on the right.  The truncation occurred in Window > Screen Mode > Normal, and a workaround is to switch to another screen mode, e.g. Full Screen With Menu Bar. (Before anyone jumps on this, see the Window > Screen Mode menu for the keyboard shortcuts in your language.)

I filed a bug report here:

@Tjeerd29075636o4uq, try switching to Windows > Screen Mode > Full Screen With Menu Bar (Venster > Schermmodus > Volledig scherm met menubalk).

@Remco22038994r1zd, in which language are you running LR? Try switching to Windows > Screen Mode > Full Screen With Menu Bar.

Based on previous examples, I hope the folk suffering from this issue don't hold their breath too long while waiting for a fix.

FYI - there are other UI bugs in LrC 15 that aren't even language specific. For example, the 'Attributes' bar is missing multiple icons when opened on 13 inch MacBook Air and 14 inch MacBook Pro set for Default screen resolution. This occurred when the icons for 'Comments' and 'Stacks' were added.

It sounds like this might be the same problem reported by others in this Adobe bug report, do you agree?

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-import-window-truncated-on-the-right-in-many...

That page says the problem was observed in languages including German.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography, "I don't find any reports of this pre 15.0.1 - is that yor observation as well?"

I don't recall any reports. However, I just tried LR 15.0 [sic] on both Mac and Windows in Dutch and observed the same misbehavior.

Hello, I now upload some photos from the upload process (I have LR Classic and another import menue as you) and my own turnaround to fix. When you click import the screen is to big and the import button on the right side below is out of my scrren. With some tricks (first minimize the window, and push the one side to another) the import button occurs. But you can clearly see, the the wohle LR user IF is to wide. Bildschirmfoto 2025-11-12 um 08.07.09.pngBildschirmfoto 2025-11-12 um 08.07.41.pngBildschirmfoto 2025-11-12 um 08.10.58.pngBildschirmfoto 2025-11-12 um 08.13.28.png

Yes, this is where the problem sits. I changed the language to English and I have the full import screen back. I can work again, hurray! But this is something that should be fixed by Adobe, since I prefer working in my own language.

hi Johnrellis, I did switch to another screen mode, but that didn't change a thing. But the change in language did the trick.

Thank you Per. I hadn't come to reinstalling Lightroom, when another community member pointed to the language setting as the perpetrator. The switch from Dutch to English made the import screen return to normal. It is not what I desire, but for the moment it will do. I do know a few words in English, so I am able to do what I want to do, import-wise. Now I just have to re-set all my preferences that have gone lost in this whole process.
