Thank you for providing the sample images.   We have internally confirmed the fix with these images.  The fix will be in our next release (not too long from now).  Thanks for your patience and help.

I just wanted to let you know that we are aware of this issue. A bug has been filed and engineering is investigating.

The latest version of Capture One Pro has support for the Z5 and no issues opening the raw files...I’m using it now instead of LR.

And that was using a non-CPU lens?

I tried 3rd party F mount lenses (Tamron/Sigma) with the FTZ adapter as well as manual focus M mount Leica and Voigtlander lenses with a dumb adapter. Even used a Helios 44-2 on a Z mount to M42 adapter.  No issues with any of them...C1 opens all the NEF files.  In fact, it works so well I canceled my Adobe subscription and deleted their software from my computers.

Ah hah. I downloaded a trial of Capture One and my Leitz lens raw files open just fine. I guess my friend has an older version of CO.

BTW, if you’re using any native Nikon Z mount lenses ignore the lack of specific lens profiles in C1...the lens corrections are built into the NEF file.  This will be noted as “Manufacturer profile” in the Len Correction tab and occurs seamlessly in the background.

Yup. Confirmed Capture One 20 (ver 13.1.3.13) introduced support for the Z5 AND I can edit NEF files shot with my FTZ adapter and Tamron 24-70 G2 and 70-200 G2.

Pleasantly surprised with C1 - learning curve is NOT as steep as I thought it would be given my history with LR. Editing and processing files were fast - on par with LR on my laptop. No other software I tried came this close. I was all excited to purchase it until I saw their price and pricing strategy. Will probably exhaust the trial period and hope that Adobe can get their act together and put out a fix.

@madmanchan Hello. Any update on the release of the update? This thread is almost 2 months old with the accepted answer coming up on a month.

@madmanchan

going on 24 days since “you believe you’ve identified and fixed the problem.”  No update on anything unless we ask.  The only thief we are being referred back to is: “adobe doesn’t give timelines”. Well, is Adobe going to give us a refund for 2 months of our adobe cloud subscription back?  That makes sense to me.

In other words, go away. We'll get to it when we feel like it. Quit bothering us.

Or as we read it:

What do we care? You're going to keep using our stuff anyway. Same as Nikon's answer.

@Rikk when you give the same answer this is not actually an answer...  you’re going to keep getting the same answer.  Pretty annoying right?  Guess we will keep asking since we’re paying for a service we can’t use!

@Rikk your title of "Consumer Advocacy" is not quite right. I don't want to leave Adobe/LR for anything else but my workflows are NOT working right now and have not for the past two payment periods...and yes, I'm counting in payment periods because ultimately, I'm paying for a product I can no longer use. This will be the last payment I make unless Adobe has a fix out. I'm likely not the last one to state that but I also realise it's probably too small a cohort to make any impact on whether Adobe escalates and expedites a fix.

Well, you lose all the information held in the raw file. It definitely limits your capabilities

This topic will be alive and well until it’s fixed. It’s basically just like it started 2 months ago...  no solution... no answers...

FWIW, I went through the cancellation process today. Entered "Technical reason" and commented in the details when prompted why I want to cancel. The next screen offers a two month free option as an offer. In short, I took that so I'm not paying until mid-Jan and hoping they have a fix by then. Until then, I can conceivably pay monthly for C1.

In length, I also spoke a support rep and the mentioned that as long as we have a tech issue, the prodcut can be had for $0. I'll believe it when I see it but so far, $0 for 2 months will work. But yes, I still have to purchase another product in the meantime.

@marc_feldesman_wb8cbl66q52v

@Rikk

Nope! Haha not until it is working!

Since there is nothing else we can do as the consumer we might as well voice the complaint in the ways we can. Whether it helps anything or not. Nagging is the only show we have lol.  Cause like mentioned, what does Adobe care.

I think this should have been a special bug fix released all on its own.

Without waiting for whatever designated release of other updates.

Cause this was not the usual bug but a bit bigger of a mess up... I mean I don’t think this happened with the other Z cams and the FTZ.

So, the answer was "It will be fixed in our next release, which is coming soon"... until the next release came out, and now it's "It will be fixed at some point, we'll let you know."

Got it.

@TimKamppinen are you saying it's not fixed in the new version 10? DPReview is saying version 10 is out today but I don't see the update yet in my Adobe Cloud app. Would be a major bummer if this is still broken in version 10. I believe they said in this thread the fix was coming in the next update.

I haven't updated yet but if it was fixed in version 10 I would have expected Rikk to just say so instead of linking to old comments. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Hi! I just updated my ipad lightroom to the latest version and it recognizes my Tamron 70-200mm G2 (ftz on Z5) now. I believe the fix works. Haven't tried it out on the desktop yet.
