P: Brighten the Histogram as LrC 13.0 histogram is much darker than LrC 12.5

Lightroom Classic 13.0, macOS Ventura 13.6

New histogram look in develop module draws histogram in afancy stule with a line contour that envelops the histogram and stretches all the way from blacks to highlights. The line contour stretches the whole length of the histiogram all the time and this makes it impossible to see the real data distribution or where highlights or blacks need to be adjusted and how much of the range is left. The histogram view is basically useless. This fancy displaying is style over substance change and negates the reason to use histogram - please revert to old style histogram where empty areas are easy to see and there are no fancy line contours. Better yet - make your developers coming up with these fancy ideas to actually use the product themselves.

The clipping iundicators are no help either because I have a situation where clip indicator show no clipping yet when selected shows some small areas of clipping in image - see screenshot with clipping indicator shows no clipping in highlights yet when selected shows blown highlights on swans.
I had no issues using histogram in Lightroom Classic 12 and it was far more useful when presenting information to the user, please reinstate it!

I agree. You can add your comment and vote for having the old style histogram back here:

I agree with @ondrejb47127146 , should have made that clear.

Aside from subjective "I like the old one better" arguments, what's the actual problem though?

The same information is presented, and it doesn't seem to be any harder to take in.

Strong outline makes harder to see slight tint in colors (for me).

I like the old look from 12.5. much more, it was easier to use.

  • The neutral grey area is too dark, and also has a green tint.
  • Yellow should be more saturated, and blue needs to brighter.
  • General contrast is too low.
  • The contour lines are annoying, especially the green one, which is too prominent.
  • The contour lines also tend to obscure detail.
  • At a glance, I find the new histogram harder to read than the old one.

The features requested here have not been fully implemented. There are no histogram gridlines.

Please bring back the histogram gridlines. The current histogram is a step backwards in terms of usability.

I prefer the histogram as it is displayed in ACR.

The histogram in 13.1 is a big improvement, but yellow now displays as green with a slight yellow tint, very similar to green.

Magenta displays as a slightly magenta blue, and I haven't been able to identify cyan.

In the old histogram (version 12 and earlier) it was easy to identify these secondary colors.

If somebody high up on the food chain at Adobe has a strong personal affinity for the new histogram, is there any reason they (Adobe) can't just give us a switch to go between the V12 histogram - which was pretty good - and the V13 histogram - which was pretty awful and is now slightly less awful, but still not as good as the old one.  Simple option in the preferences...

I understand that every time a new version comes out Adobe has to change stuff that was working fine for years.  Sometimes, it's an actual improvement, but sometimes it "breaks" something that's been fine for a decade...

In LRC 13.1 the colors in the histogram can hardly be distinguished. For example the yellow curve is now almost green.

Yellow curve - ??

There is no yellow channel in RGB. There is a green channel.

Ah, OK, get it. It's where they intersect it gets muddy.

Frankly it hasn't bothered me, I haven't even thought about it - but now that you point it out, yes, it's a bit murky.
