P: Installations from Mac App Store fail on some operations

I am unable to use the auto mask feature after the lastest October version 7.0 update. When trying to use an AI mask an error message comes up "Something went wrong - There was an unexpected error and your request could not be complete.". Under the masking panel, LR also does not recognize any human subjects.

I am on MacOS 14.0 and have tried reinstalling LR. Is this a known bug currently or something wrong with my system/installation?

Note: Only Mac App Store Versions numbered 7.0 are affected by this issue. Verify your installed version by going to Help>System Info… and reviewing the exact installed version number of your software.

To correct this issue, you need to either:

  1.  Uninstall the Mac App Store version and then Install Lightroom Desktop 7.0 from the Creative Cloud Desktop App
    or
  2.  Install Lightroom Desktop 7.0.1 from the Mac App Store.

Either will fix this issue.

Thank you for your patience.

Issue: Subject select does not work after most recent update on 10/10/2023.

  • Lightroom Version Number: 7.0
  • OS Version Number: MacOS Ventura 13.4.1

Using the feature to select a subject does not work, an error message appears. "Something went wrong and an unexpected

error occured" The brush tool does work to brush over a subject but that becomes very timely. The subject select feature has been amazing to work with and hoping to get it back asap!

Issue: The denoise tool is not working after most recent update.

  • Lightroom Version Number: 7.0
  • OS Version Number: MacOS Ventura 13.4.1

The error message that I receive is: Unsupported Photo- the selected photo is not supported by this feature.

This is happening to each photo that I try.

Hi,

I am using the newest version of Lightroom on my Mac M2. I have a Nikon d5300. I have photographed and edited many photos using the NEF Raw Files. Also using the AI noise reduction. Worked great. But suddenly its not working anymore. Everything is as always. Besides the newest update. But when I try to apply Denoise i get the message that this function is not supported for that photo.
That´s B***s**t in my opinion. Same file type, same camera as in the past. All the same but suddenly not working with new photos anymore. Does somebody know what it could be?

Resolution and Raw Details are working.

Best regards,
Mike

It quit working for me too. I'm almost relying on it for a session I did in low lighting. I'm really disappointed and I hope this will be fixed.

For those of you on this thread, did you download your version from the Creative Cloud App or the Mac App Store?

I suspect you have 7.0 from the Mac App Store.

Going to Help>System Info… can confirm this if your build number has MAS.

Version 7.0.1 was released in the Mac App Store. If you have installed it from the Mac App Store previously, I recommend installing the fresh 7.0.1 update. It should cure the issue.

@Bailey32890444mo0h   If you are unable to use Denoise after the 7.0.1 update, reset your preferences and see if the ability to DeNoise returns. If not, then I would need to get a sample file from you.

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, it can change your local storage location. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

You're continually holding down Opt+Shift, then launching Lightroom as you hold those buttons down?
