Question

Some photos won’t upload even when I use the same export settings.

I'm not exactly sure where to put this because it's happened with photos exported from both the iPad version and LRC.

Here is what happens, some photos I've exported as jpegs can't be uploaded. Even when I use the same exact export settings across different photos, they just won't upload. This happens when I try to upload on different websites like Twitter, Bluesky and Reddit on my iPad using Safari or Firefox. It's also happened in the Bluesky app and in the Apple Support app (when I was talking to them about this). I'm not sure where the problem is coming from.

I did a screen recording showing how it behaves when I try to upload some photos. As you can see, it's two very similar photos, they have the same dimension and are both jpegs. The one that doesn't work is a little bigger, but I got no problems with other photos that are even bigger. I only show two photos here, but this has happened with many other photos too.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

(Of course I've tried restarting, or deleting the cookies in Firefox, but this happens in apps too, not just in web browsers.)

EDIT:

The uploading issue only seem to happen on the iPad, not on my PC. I tried uploading the two photos to Reddit on both my PC and iPad, and it works on PC. But I still get the issue for one of the photos on my iPad.

Maybe this is an Apple issue after all? I was talking to them about it yesterday and they had no clue and I was concluding that it must be an issue with Lightroom. I'm just very confused.

I am still having this issue. Are anyone able to help me?

Latest "development" is that I've tried to post some of the photos with the issue on forums and I get an error message saying "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct". Which is weird because the dimensions of the files are in the meta data. I export them all with the same settings, but some of them just refuse to be uploaded.

AND as I said earlier, the files that get this issue seem to take half a second longer to export from Lightroom and shows a different "loading bar" (looks the same but text is different) while exporting.

Adobe, what is going on?

Im having similiar issues. I have always been able to upload to google photos after LR export, but suddenly inbetween uploading different shoots, I started getting error messages. Also get error messages when I try to upload to Pixieset. I can go back and upload previously exported photos to google photos no problem. But if I now export those exact same photos and try uploading to google photos, I get an error message. All photos from that point on are giving me an error message. I've checked sizing, settings, etc and everything is the same as previously uploaded files. I dont understand and Im at a complete loss!

Can you tell me what the app does when it says "checking" during exporting an image?

I hope this bumps this thread up.

I've discovered something new. Sometimes when I export images the "export loading bar" that pops up says "checking" for a quarter of a second before it exports. The photos where this happens seem to be the ones that I can't upload.

I had a photo I was happy with and after exporting it I was not able to upload it on my iPad or my iPhone. I went back to Lightroom and decided to just try disabling some edits to see if anything changed. The first thing I did was to delete the masks and that actually did it. The version of the photo without the mask edits uploads just fine.

BUT that isn't the end of it because I've uploaded photos where I have used masks, many times. I even tried to just add mask edits to an otherwise unedited photo and that one uploaded fine too. When I exported that one I did not get the "checking message" either.

So Adobe, what is causing the "checking" during exporting? Can you patch it?
