P: Please add face recognition

I am disappointed that there is no facial recognition in Lightroom CC. I am a professional Photo Organizer and I was hoping it would be a good alternative to Mylio and other programs for organizing client's photos. With facial recognition in other competitive products, it is a way to add lots of names as keywords very efficiently.
I scan client photos also, and I can't edit the capture date in Lightroom CC, so that is disappointing also.
This product still does seem promising as a way for my clients to view, share and enjoy their photos if I have organized their collection and applied metadata using other products such as Lightroom Classic.

Greetings,

The Lightroom family of products was updated today and contains support for this feature. Please download the new version and give it a try and let us know how it works. Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Lightroom CC: Please add face recognition.

From the linked document above:

"Note: When I access the People View, why does Lightroom CC display 'No People Found Yet'?

Initial indexing of your photos may take some time. The ‘No People Found Yet’ message is displayed when Lightroom is still analyzing all your photos to find people or when there aren't any people in your photos."

It sounds like indexing hasn't been finished on your account yet. Until it is, you won't be able to see or use the feature.  Give it some time for the indexing to be accomplished. Thanks for your patience.

Where to the person tags end up stored? Will they be written to the file as meta data, or will they live in a separate database that is unconnected to the actual photo. I ask as the latter hurts when sharing the photos outside of Lightroom (such as to family members for Family History research.) We need this data to live inside the photo file (or in a related side car for RAW images.)

I upgraded LR CC 18 hours ago, i have 30,000 photos, and "People" still shows "No Faces Detected". Do I still need to wait, or is there a problem that I do not have any detected faces yet?

For those of you who are still waiting for People Categorization to complete indexing. Can you go to Lightroom CC desktop app - click on the Cloud icon in the upper right and let me know what your used storage amount is?

Rikk, please see https://forums.adobe.com/message/10685211#10685211 for some additional feedback on this topic. I'll copy it here well:
The upside to all this is: I'm really excited about this new feature, and grateful that Adobe has added it! Just a few days before the release someone asked me to dig up all the photos I have of just them with one other person, and I had no idea how I would achieve that without manually combing through my library one photo at a time (I haven't had the time or discipline to do something like manually add a tag for each person in every photo, or any other strategy). This new functionality should make that sort of search much, much easier.

The downside is, of course, that it hasn't actually detected faces in the vast majority of my library, so I can't actually leverage this great new functionality in any useful way yet.

To be fair, there may be legitimate technical reasons why Adobe couldn't run the recognition before the release. However, I don't think there's a good excuse for the poor communication to customers around this. I think we'd all be less confused and frustrated if they provided better documentation/communication on how this is being rolled out. Some form of visibility into whether progress is being made on the detection within each of our libraries would also go a long way.

839.65 GB available of 1TB; and I have 19,137 photos.

Over 48 hours now and still nothing.

Appreciate the work you guys are surely doing behind the scenes—but I think some lessons learned on this. It’s really poorly communicated, and for us users just seems broken 😕

Can’t wair for it to be up and running properly, I have been hanging out for this one.
