P: Filter for Likes and Comments

Now that Adobe is committing to LR Mobile, it would be great if LR had better support for comments and likes:

- Ability to filter and search in smart collections for comments and likes. The Sort: Last Comment Time is helpful but not sufficient -- it only works with collections synced with LR Cloud, and you can only sort one collection at time (huh??).

- The same support for other publish services like Flickr that also sync user comments. Why did Adobe implement Last Comment Time and comment notifications just for LR Mobile? The underlying structure is already there to implement it for the other services as well. These other services have a diversity of features that many users find valuable and that are unlikely to ever appear in LR Mobile, so asking them to switch to LR Mobile just to get the trivial ability to sort by comment time is frustrating.

- SDK access to the comments and likes, so that plugins can manipulate that metadata just like they have the ability to manipulate other metadata. Just providing SDK access would let plugin developers provide the other functionality.

This feature request applies to Lightroom Ecosystem but has posts included for legacy Ligthroom Classic requests regarding the same topic.

Check out the Any Comment plugin, which lets you filter by comments and likes from LR Cloud and other publishing services. It's not as convenient as having the feature built-in, but it gets the job done.

6 years now. Ridiculous. As previously mentioned by another commentor (YEARS ago), professionals use Lightroom Classic. I only use Lightroom CC and mobile when I'm...mobile. For shoots and client proofing to work effectively in the averal professional's workflow, these programs need to work TOGETHER. For as much money Adobe makes from month subscriptions you think they'd hire a few more developers to figure this out but apparently not. It's enough to make me reconsider using Capture One instead.

The Lightroom Desktop app (not Lightroom Classic) now has a filter for Likes and/or Comments (on the Filter Bar), but only on a per album basis.

Hi all

Happy New Year 2024.

Looks like we are on a 3 years journey now with NO Like / Comment Filter option in the mobile apps xD
I can now see how Adobe handles customer feedback or so =(

Regards

One of the most Amazing features of Sync'd Collections is allowing my clients to look through lots of pictures and select their favorites or leave comments.  This has really improved my workflow with my clients BUT my clients have no way of knowing how many "Likes" they've selected at any point.

I may share 200 pitures with a client with the request for them to choose 20 pictures.  Currently there's no way for my client to know how many pictures they've selected without going through all 200 pictures and counting.  Can we please have a Filter Feature on the Web Link end of Sync'd Public Collections allowing users to see only their Favorites or at a minimum have a running count of how many likes they've clicked.

Almost every client I work with ends up txt'ing me and asking "How many have I chosen?".  This seems an easy feature add and one that would be a huge benefit to everyone interacting with Adobe Lightroom!

Thanks!  Matt

Have a look at the Collaborative Proofing option in the browser-based Lightroom Web app.....it's a Technology Preview that has to be enabled, but once you've done that it allows you choose an album, then select the Proofing tab at bottom left, then click on the sharing icon, which then allows you to copy the URL for sharing with your clients and at the same time limit their selections to xx photos. At the client end the display allows them to select images up to the maximum that you've set (and yes, there's a running count for the user). When you then open the album back in your LrWeb app you can filter by client and then have an album of just that specific user's selects created automatically.

You might find it useful.

Yes filtering on the web end is so important, I often get request to remove the photos they don't like so the can work better on the liked ones.

Something I don't like be cause I have to duplicate the album for them to keep the "all photos" folder for myself.

For Shared Collections, We need to be able to filter likes on Lightroom Classic and on the web interface. How is this not a feature? People have been requesting this for YEARS.

Do I really need to explain why this is valuable?

I share a collection with a client. Client likes photos. I have no way of viewing only the liked photos. In LRC I can "review comments" which is not very effective. On the web browser interface I can see hearts (representing likes) in the grid view but can't sort or filter by the hearts.

@johnn50423288: "For Shared Collections, We need to be able to filter likes on Lightroom Classic"

You used to be able to select a synced collection and do Sort: Last Comment Time, which would put the photos with recent likes and comments first.  And collections and photos with likes and comments would be marked with yellow badges temporarily.

Unfortunately, LR 13.3's new sync engine broke that:

Agreed, but it was always a better-than-nothing workaround.

Yep, Lightroom 13.3 really did cause a lot of issues with sync data and likes / comments, the recent 13.4 may have solves that issue but it has caused me to lose all my work from previous years due to the online collections and my classic collections all jumble up completely.

Had to start from scratch a new catalog. Also i notice performance dip in the 13.3, 13.4 seem more stable but not as fast as i knew it before the updates for new catalog.

Overall, it's been years.....and here we are still waiting for a filter option for likes / comment. I mean.......it's a simple option / feature, but sure makes our work significantly smoother instead of manually liking the photos one by one manually . Lightroom Classic could do it by selecting "Last Comment Time" which work wonders.

Not sure why it is so hard for lightroom mobile.
