P: Map view/module - Ability to geotag photos

Community Beginner ,

I'm probably at the low end of the prosumer category when it comes to photography. I've been using Lightroom for a couple of years. I love the multiple platform feature on the new CC, but geotagging images has always been important for me (enough so that onboard GPS is a mandatory feature when I look for a camera). I had been adding locations to older images in what's now CC Classic.

Are we going to get that ability in the new CC?

Even more importantly, will the new AI-based search allow us to do things like pull pictures based on location? And, if so, will we be able to do things like define a radius? This was all possible when we had the maps panel, but seems to be challenging now.

Yes, but that field is just a very simple input. You need to get the coordinates somewhere and paste them in.

Why can't you guys just copy the way Map Module in Classic works?

I'm using Lightroom mobile on my Android phone and PC computer.  I believe it would be very helpful and save a lot of time if the Info and Rating page showed the photo's location.  Otherwise, one has to go back and forth to the original file in another app and find that information.  Please share your thoughts on this suggestion.

What has been implemented, like almost everything on the mobile version, is orientated towards a single photo, not an album. At the end of a trip, or photo shoot, there is typically hundreds of photos to update; the current mapping system would be incredibly painful for this.

A feature missing in lightroom mobile is the ability to view, edit, and search location metadata.

I often want to be able to find where I took a photo but haven't found how to display this information in lightroom mobile.

Also make it easier to make the GPS location information import into lightroom classic smoother as I have to re-read the metadata for each photo to get it to work even when it is synced from the cloud.

Please can you add this capability soon.

Just like you can choose preview quality, syncing a photo could access location information on demand.

Dear Adobe Team,

it would be great if the Android App will support the display of geo location of a photo just like the web app does.

Not sure if this is available for iOS - if not, pls add it there, too.

I would love a map view or something else that allows me to find all the photos I have from a certain geographical area.
For example: We go to Disney World often. I'd love a map view that allows me to quickly get to all photos from Disney World. It would be granular with zoom level. So when zoomed out it might show all of Florida. If you zoom in deep you only get photos from a specific area of Magic Kingdom inside Disney World.
I can think of a ton of use cases for a feature like this. Just being able to get all photos taken at my home quickly would be very useful.

So it's now been 7 years that we ask and hope for basic features which never come...

I use my phone to take pictures of places i will want to return to with my DSLR. My Samsung S22 captures the information but mobile does not display it when you import the photos from the phone so i have to use Samsung's software to find the location. So what is the point in Lightroom mobile.

This feature has been resuested since ages and Adobe makes users feel like it's a BIG feature. When it eventually comes, people will be grateful. Whereas this should have been implemented ages ago as it's part of most basic OS since forever. That's one of the prices to pay of the subscription model: the editor is not responsible for innovation. Merely showing the least amount of effort to avoid too many users leaving.

No wonder everybody hates what Adobe has become and are avidly looking for alternatives such as DxO, DaVinci, ...

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I would like to see a map feature added to Lightroom that is similar to the map module in lightroom classic.
