in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hello,

I am currently using the Photoshop Beta and have encountered an issue where the square brackets [ and ] for adjusting brush size are not functioning. Here are the details of the problem:

  • Photoshop Beta Version: [25.11.0]
  • Operating System: [mac osx 14.5 (23F79)]
  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a new or existing document in Photoshop Beta.
    2. Select any brush tool.
    3. Attempt to adjust the brush size using the [ and ] keys.
  • Expected Behavior: The brush size should increase or decrease when using the [ and ] keys.
  • Actual Behavior: The brush size does not change, and the square brackets have no effect.

I have checked my keyboard settings and confirmed that the keys are functioning correctly in other applications. This issue seems to be specific to the Photoshop Beta.

I would appreciate any assistance or guidance on resolving this problem. If additional information or troubleshooting steps are needed, please let me know.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

(The brush shortcut in this new update is not increasing or decreasing with the "[ ]" shortcut keys. I did a test and changed it to the previous version, it went back to normal, I reset my settings, but it still doesn't increase or decrease in this new update.)

Hi Cory!  I'd be happy to disable this feature that I don't use to get my bracket keys working again, but I could sure use step-by-step instructions on how to find and disable that on my PC.  I see the image you posted but don't know what I'd do to get to that screen or what I'd be changing once I get there (do we hit "Delete shortcut"?  I don't want to permanently get rid of something I might want later).  And I see you're a Mac person; please help us get there on both platforms.  I'm sure I'm not alone on this frustration.  Thank you, bud!

The keyboard shortcuts "[" and "]" for changing brush size in Adobe Photoshop beta 25.11.0 are not functioning as expected. This issue affects the workflow significantly, as these shortcuts are commonly used to quickly adjust brush size while working.
please make it work again.

Okay everyone!  I found where Cory's suggestion is, at least for PC and it's probably similar on Mac.

Click Edit, then Keyboard Shortcuts.

Where is says "Shortcuts for" , choose "Tools" on the dropdown.

Scroll way to the bottom to see the options Cory shows: "Show previous layer boundary" and "Show next layer boundary".

I didn't want to delete the shortcuts because I don't understand what this feature is or if I might want it in the future, so I just changed the two from "[" and "]" to ";" and ":" − because colon and semicolon aren't things I use for anything.

As soon as I said "Accept" and "OK" to all of that, the "[" and "]" went back to working as making brushes larger and smaller again.

Hope this helped!

When I try to use the bracket keys to change the brush size, nothing happens.  I have to go to the menu bar and select the brush size there.  Am I missing something

I am having the same issue this week since updating. So far I've been using Alt right click hold mouse and move mouse right or left to resize brush. But it's extremely inconvenient still. Making my work go so slow. I keep checking 3x a day for an Adobe update that they fixed the bug.
