P: Generated images violate user guidelines

Bunny.png

image (1).png

So as you can see, it's a PG-13 relatively inoffensive image of a woman in a bunny outfit. The top worked fine, and I was able to complete the top ear, which is cool. When I tried to extend the bottom with generative fill, though, I got this warning. They're just a pair of legs wearing stockings, and I wanted to extend it.

It feels like a false flag - though I could be wrong? I find myself thinking it would do the same for women in swimsuits.

Figured I'd share here.

Dear Community,

On November 7th, 2023, the Firefly for Photoshop service was updated and improved for this issue. You should encounter fewer guideline errors when working on or near skin-tone areas that do not violate the community guidelines.

While the improvement is a big step in the right direction, we are continuing to explore new ways to minimize false-positives. Please continue to give us feedback on this new forum thread and also report false violation errors in the application.
Thank you

I've been using Photoshop as both a photomanipulation/ photo montaging artist as a retoucher and as a graphic designer for over 20 years and have recently started to incorporate AI generated images into my flow. I feel like the only circumstance where censorship of Adobe's AI should take place is applying to images uploaded publicly to Adobe's Creative Cloud.

I can see these safeguards being kept in place while generative fill and other AI tools are in beta testing, but in an official release it would be extremely irritating and intrusive to have some pop-up hitting me in the eyes with a content warning when I try to extend the canvas below a clothed person's waist.

Over the years our creations have always been private up until the point when we decide to share them. Yes? Then the same should continue to apply to AI tools in official releases of Adobe products.

using the latest version, trying to add to a portrait photo, that contains a white lady, clothed in a blue dress, no amtter what i do I get a voilating guidlines error, i mean what guideline am i voilating ? with a ai tool like this i would expect it to have zero guidelines since i could be working on a fine art nude photo, i could be working on a photo containing weapons , if photoshop limits those type of photos and excludes them thjen kindly provide me with a list of allowed photos so that I can focus my photography work on those types of photos only

Hi @AndrewBassonZA try entering a prompt like "extend background" not entering a prompt is giving false failures.

Being a fan of zombie films - not for blood and guts but for the post apocalyptic theme, I thought I could bring them closer to home by taking a photo of the street outside and asking generative AI to put a zombie hoard on it, it tells me the image was removed as it violates guidelines.

I got a work colleague to try the same thing on a garden picture only to get the same thing.

It seems as though the word "zombie" is enough to trigger the AI warning.

Given zombies are part of poular culture, why does Adobe AI not like them?

I managed to get the likes of Bing AI to generate zombie images but only in generic AI generated settings.

Maybe the blood and guts images of zombies might not be suitable but one can generate hoards of zombies without showing blood and guts spewing out. The other AI did a good job of this.

Did the update. Used the exact same prompt in the exact same image and received the exact same "Generated images were removed because they violate user guidelines"

Trying to fill in the background on an image & my Generative Fill gives me an error message saying "The generated images were removed because they violate user guidelines."  I was able to use it on other images, but this one has repeatedly been blocked.

Ditto - editing flowers and using Generative AI results in "violations".

The false flagging is so ridiculous I also took and uploaded video.

AI should always be limited like in your case. Sensitive, triggering materials, sexual, nudity, etc should always be limited under any circumstances, if you have to/must, you can always use old school method by manual editing ( if you do not have that skill, learn it, it's never too late, and can be useful ) browsing gb after gb for the right image can be "zen" for lost souls xD

I think it is essential to limit AI in some cases, especially when it comes to sensitive or triggering materials. AI can be used to create realistic and lifelike images, which can be harmful if used to spread misinformation or exploit people. For example, AI could be used to create fake news articles or to create deep fakes that could be used to damage someone's reputation.

However, I also think AI can be a powerful tool for good. It can be used to create educational content, to help people with disabilities, and to improve our understanding of the world around us. I believe that we need to find a balance between limiting AI and using it for good.

Hi, I've had two instances of the generative fill refusing to continue due to 'not complying with community guidelines'. The first was when I tried to remove a tattoo on a man's chest, and the 2nd was when I tried to extend a tulle skirt to allow an image to sit in a higher position on the page (no skin visible at all). Seems very weird that generative fill is 'policing' content that I produce in the privacy of my own computer. Even if I did want to produce an explicit image (which I don't) what's the problem?

While most censorship and content restrictions are valid, placing too many restrictions like those on visuals such as blood is unnecessary and hamper creativity. I wanted to turn a portrait of a model into a vampire and wanted some blood dripping from her mouth. But even a little trickle of blood violates the guidelines which seem intentionally set up to be broken even by those with purely creative intentions.

What about over-the-counter guns? Is it less dangerous than AI?Your argument is ridiculous

It's pretty much useless for beach photography, sports photography. Whether a man or a woman it'll say it's violating community guidelines. Was this tool designed by a radical cleric? Lol.

The reason why these tools tend to fail on hands and feet is because these AI companies tend to steer clear of human anatomy (inherently 'evil'). Meanwhile if you learn real art this is the foundation where you start.

Before everyone goes off on some tangental rant about dystopian censorship [too late!] - ever thought that this is simply a bug in a beta release? Try entering a prompt, even a simple one and the error response goes away...

Bakhtiar's argument is not ridiculous at all, it is a very sensible one, and it sums up the whole dilemma very well. Yours doesn't.

Hi @FrangipaniOz try entering a prompt and not leaving the generative fill blank.

Also there is a new version that may help. You may have to uninstall the beta first to see the new version available.
Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.6.0 20230603.m.2196 77b00e0 x64

I do have the most current version of Beta already.  However, entering a prompt did help on this one.

Thank you.

@E250916993jnw, ha, re your point: “Meanwhile if you learn real art this is the foundation where you start,” I'm reminded of Szukalski, who complained when ordered in art school to learn from live figures, saying, “Working from the model destroys the talent.”

Thanks everyone.

As this is a beta release, the team is constantly evaluating how the prompt and image filters perform. If you encounter an error that you consider to be incorrect please report it using the beta feedback panel. Your image or prompt may not be violating the terms and conditions and we may be filtering it in error.

Hello Cory

Why didn't Adobe inform me of this Betea feedback panel when I reach ou to them last week? I made intial contact over chat, and then they had an engineer call me on the phone. Both said to post the problem here. Where can I find this feedback panel?

Regards
