I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024. 

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time. 

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

I just updated to

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.0.0 20230801.m.2265 3a00623 x64

today and PS2024 is now opening properly from Lightroom for me.

I have the same problem.  I got round it by setting my "normal" photoshop version as the alternative external editor in Lightroom.  You could possibly set the beta version instead?

It works then.  If you want to open multiple files as as layers you have to just open them all using the alternative editor selection; in "Edit in" ; then when they have all loaded, use "Edit - scripts - load into stack" and select "open files" as the option.  Problem is you end up with duplicate Tif or PSD (depending on your preferences) copies of the images selected in Lightroom.  There is a bug fix on the way - allegedly.

Seit der letzten Updates von Adobe habe ich auf all meinen Rechnern folgendes Problem: Schicke ich eine Bilddatei aus Lightroom zu Photoshop, um sie dort zu bearbeiten, öffnet sich Photoshop zwar, aber die Datei wird nicht geöffnet. Habe alles versucht, aber keine Lösung gefunden.

Since the last update from Adobe, I have the following problem on all my computers: If I send an image file from Lightroom to Photoshop to edit it there, Photoshop starts but the file does not open. I have tried everything but have not found a solution.
Here are my programmes: MacOS Ventura 13.4.1 / Lightroom Classic 12.4 / Photoshop 24.7.0.
I am grateful for any suggestion for a solution

Whenever I click edit in so I can take my lightroom edit to photoshop, its showing Photoshop 2024 and no longer showing photoshop beta. Now its giving me this error message and I cant open my files lightroom files in photoshop beta. I really need this fix, if anyone can help expalin why its saying Photoshop 2024 now and wont allow me to open my files from Lightroom to Photoshop Beta.

Same issue! And then it creates a TIF version! So, if I edit CR3 file in Lighroom, then do the Enhanced de-noise, it creates a new DNG file, and then when I export to Photoshop Betra it now creates a TIF, so I end up with 3 version of the same file! Super annoying!

Going back to 24.6 helped, BUT I'm getting this super annoying message "It's time to update" that can't be removed!

 Can you fix it asap please? It's impossible to use, very frustrating.

Genau wie bei mir, überhaupt kein Workflow mit der PS Beta mehr möglich. Ich habe erstmal die Beta deinstalliert und arbeite jetzt mit der "normalen" Version. Hoffe sehr das der BUG bald behoben. ist.

Why new in new versions you can`t move photos from Lightroom to Phoshop? Is it some settimg problem or only lost possibility?

If you're using Photoshop Beta 25.0 it's a known issue.

Try to roll back to Beta 24.7 and see if it's help.

If this doesn't help, please Consider including the following in your question:

• Adobe product and version number
• Operating system and version number
• The full text of any error message (s)
• What you were doing when the problem occurred
• Screenshots of the problem
• Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; the amount of RAM; etc

Please provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Creative cloud today Aug 4th updated my PS Beta but a) it is still ver 25.0, and b) LR still can't send files to it.

When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, the first step is to try this:

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Application to uninstall Photoshop. When asked, keep preferences! After this reinstall Photoshop again.

If this doesn't help the nest step is to reinstall both apps Lightroom and Photoshop. Please folloe the steps below:

1. Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Client and uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. When asked, keep preferences! 

2. Install Photoshop first and then Lightroom Classic. The right order is very important here!

I hope you try this: 

A temporary fix for Photoshop beta 25 and PSC. In Adobe Lightroom preferences select as your second open as preference for open in Windows go to program files/ adobe/ adobe Photoshop 2023/… and select Photoshop.EXE.

1. To edit a file right click and edit in Photoshop.exe then close it and it will save to Lightroom (my settings are set to save as a tiff file).
2. Then right click and open in go to shop 2024. This is the beta version, and it will now open the file. Do your work and close.
3. Go back to Lightroom and if you see a window saying that it could not open go to File Explorer and find the tiff file that you just saved and move it to a new location or rename it. If you do not Photoshop beta will overwrite it and remove your edits.
4. You can right click and synchronize the folders to get your file back in Lightroom and continue editing in Lightroom beta which now recognizes that file and will open it (for a while). Opening as layers does not work. Selecting more than one will open.

It seems like everything is very delayed. If i hit Strg + E in LR to edit the picture in PS, it takes like 1min until it appears in PS. And when i save it after the editing, it needs another minute to pop up in LR.

Hi, today I got the same error messages "Unable to open" and " Unable to prepare " - I too hit OK and then Photoshop opened and the Lightroom image was sent.  VERY frustrating that it should so suddenly appear.

Hi, this morning I dutifully updated all my Adobe software using CC.

Now when I'm in LR Classic, and I hit CTRL+E, it pops up my Photoshop, but it never opens the file.

When I return to LR there is the following message.  (BTW, it takes about 120 seconds for the message to appear) 

"The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched"

LR has created a PSD next to the RAW file and if I CTRL+E the PSD file it opens, but not the raw files.

I've tried this 10 times on different files, same results.

I now see that LR pops up that error, then creates a PSD and opens it in Photoshop.   The whole process takes about 180 seconds to open a file.

I didn't even know we were on PS 2024 yet... and apparently we are not.

Windows 11, latest LRR, Photoshop and Photoshop beta. Not w in LRC there is nothing in Edit in . Preferences shows 2 Photoshop and the topaz applications.

I've closed all running apps and did a restart as well as shutdown, delay, and restart.

Ok, I pushed the car with  not breaks back up the hill and let it roll down  again, another boot, and most of the "edit in" items are there. However Edit in Photoshop 2023 opens but my lightroom classic image is not seen.

I'm experiencing lag time when passing a photo between lightroom classic 12 .4 and photoshop 25 beta of  about 2 minutes. This happens on my desktop with Win 11 and my laptop with Win 10. It started after the most recent update to PS beta. Anyone seeing this?
