P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Tues 15th AUG - Has this bug been fixed yet? I have uninstalled and reinastalled both Beta and Lightroom Classic and I am having the same error come up. It is looking like I am having to uninstall and reinstall both everytime there is an update because my images are not going from LRC back to PS Beta and back to LRC and now this new error .."Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched" has come up. Totally wasting my time yet again having to uninstall, reinstall and now it looks like I need to go back to installing the previous version! This is getting extremly frustrated as it is so time consuming and I have galleries to get out to clients.

I understand your frustration, but...

... a Beta version is a test version to check the functionality and the stability of the software. It's normal that things aren't going smoothly yet. So you should not use beta versions in productive environments and for productive use.

I have the same issue, and it even broke the normal PS behaviour too. I cannot edit in the non-beta app either.

I will look at switching back to the original version of PS to avoid more delays. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I just uninstalled everything and reinstalled like shop in Photoshop and then I put the Photoshop data on a different computer. I can't afford any bugs while I've got a busy schedule.

G. Iashvili!Hello, go back one version in the PS program to 24.06.0. In other words, open Creative Cloud, with the PS program you have three dots on the right... click on them and choose other version. Click on version 24.6.0.. Now everything works fine for me.
Hello and welcome,
Branko

This is what worked for me to get everything running right again (Windows)

Uninstall regular photoshop
Uninstall lightroom Classic
Uninstall Photoshop Beta
Install Photoshop Beta 24.7 Version (NOT the newest version)
Install Lightroom Classic 12.4 Version (NOT the newest version)

It seems to be important to install Photoshop Beta FIRST before Lightroom or else Lightroom won't "see" Photoshop at all.

Hopefully this works for others as well.

Hi, I don't use stacking in Photoshop very often so I don't know when this problem began.

I am running LR Classic 12.4, PS (Beta) 25.0.0 and PS 24.7.0. My computer is MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM, Apple M1 Pro chip and OS Ventura 13.5.

After installing PS Beta I noticed that opening a file from LR to edit in PS (Beta) always, and after a wait, produces an error message that 'The file could not be edited because Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched'  but then, nonetheless, goes ahead and opens the file in PS Beta.

The main problem, though, is that I can't open multiple images as layers in either PS or PS Beta. all that happens is that the relevant program will open and then nothing further. Following a suggestion from the same problem a couple of years ago I reset the preferences of PS but this made no difference.

I don't know if the 'open as layers' problem started with installing PS Beta, but the error message described above did.

It is not poassible to open multiple photo's from lightroom classic to photoshop as layers. Photoshop Beta version does not open at all.

If I try to open a single photo from Lightroom classic to Photoshop Beta version than first I get around 3 or 4 errors with the message: "It is not possible to open Photoshop 2024" (I am not sure which version this is) and after 3 or 4 times it opens finally.

Wow, I'm very disappointed.  I had to uninstall 25 a couple weeks ago because it kept giving me errors when I tried to handoff images from LR to PS.  I went back to the older version and everything worked again.  This morning I was forced to upgrade back to version 25 because none of the generative fill functions worked now with the old version.  I'm now back with version 25 and it's the same old crap.  It will eventually load from LR after about two minutes and I click through all the error messages. Please help

As we feared, it's the 14th of August and NO Generative Fill in 24.7 Photoshop Beta. Adobe, please extend this as it's the only Beta working with Lightroom at the moment. Pretty please?

I fully support! Turn generative fill back on in version 24.7. In version 25.0, export from lightroom does not work - the same as what was written above.

I dutifully upgraded to v25.0 when it came out a few weeks ago, but decided to downgrade back to v24.7 after the persistent bug that made opening files from within LrC became too annoying. I have been happily working in v24.7 ever since, but suddenly today I can no longer use generative fill on my files without going back to v25.0. Can you please either restore the ability to use generative fill in the previous version, or release a patch to address the LrC interoperability?

Add my voice to those clamouring for 24.7's generative fill to be restored, or, perhaps better, for 25.1 to come out with a fix for the LrC opening issue!

For all.

If you roll back Lightroom to version 12.2.1, then exporting to Photoshop Beta 25.0 works fine.

We are losing a couple of new lightroom features, but for most, this is not critical.
