Hello everybody

So, the latest Photoshop Beta 25.9 m.2603 update which introduced the Generate Image and Reference Image features is not working for me. I'm on Windows 10 and a high-end PC by the way.

Whenever I use the Generate Image feature, I get a black layer as a result.

No matter what options I choose or what the prompt is.

Even if I choose no options at all.

It simply doesn't work. I just get 3 black options to choose from (see attached screenshot).

Needs to be fixed asap.

Thank you.

It may not help the original questioner, but it may be useful for other users.

In my case, the current version 26.0 caused exactly the same three black image frames (I had never tried Image AI with the previous versions!). After many attempts, I found out that the file format plug-in ‘SuperPNG.8bi’ from 2014 was causing the conflict with Firefly. Since Flux produces PNG files, Photoshop may be rendering in the same format and failing with two PNG formats installed at the same time. After removing

WOW @bernd_0449 YOU SAVED THE DAY!

It was indeed the SuperPNG plugin causing the issue. I can't believe it, after 9 months I've finally been able to actually use the Generate Image feature.

I might be wrong but I believe that since the SuperPNG plugin is a File>Save As plugin (and not a Filter), Photoshop still loads with it even after using the Shift Key trick, that's why it kept producing black textures when launching PS without 3rd Party Plugins (again, I could be wrong).

I honestly hope and wish Adobe can come up with their own (better and improved) PNG and DDS plugins so that we don't have to use SuperPNG and/or Intel's or Nvidia's Plugins for DDS.

Thank you @bernd_0449 !

I'm really glad I could help!

There are certainly not many users who still have this ancient plug-in on their computer, which is probably why only a few were affected.
The SHIFT key trick worked for me because I installed all my third party filters under “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins”. By removing the entries piece by piece, only 'SuperPNG.8bi' remained as a rogue in the “File Formats” folder ;-).
