P: PS 26.9 CMD shortcuts give duplicate results

Community Beginner ,
Jul 03, 2025 Jul 03, 2025

Photoshop Beta version 26.9 on MacOS 15.5

- Pressing Cmd + [ or Cmd + ] moves layers **two steps** instead of one.
- Cmd + J creates **two new layers**, not one.
- Issue persists after reinstalling and resetting preferences.
- Not caused by actions/scripts/custom shortcuts.

- Issue is only on Beta Version, not in normal version.

This just started. If I paste something that creates a layer, it creates 2 layers. If I do Cmd J, it creates 2.

Double action by pressing command+ other key

when we push Command Button + any other Button like cmd + J for duplicating a layer it make 2 copies.

Please fix this sooner than later! Should be top of the list. It really puts a damper on processing flow, have to use alternate method or delete duplicate - for seasoned users SUPER annoying

PS Beta 26.9.0 = Command + Z OR Shift + Command + Z = completes 2x steps instead of 1, I'm using macOS Sequoia 15.5

@Venusian creatives why are you using Photoshop Beta for your everyday work? Photoshop Beta is for testing and trying out new features before they are officially released to the general public development work. Switch to the regular Photoshop, and the Undo's shouldn't be a problem

@Venusian creatives you'd be better off reporting the issue on the Photoshop Beta forum

Same here. Irritating, but it does not occur in PS 2025 so I 'm using that now.

Hi all, please check and see if this setting is set to OFF. This should be a workaround.

Preferences > Technology Previews > Enable Modern User Interface is OFF

Again, this is a workaround and not a solution. The team will fix this issue as we would like everyone to have Enable Modern User Interace set to ON.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

Thank you. After restarting my Photoshop Beta, this seemed to work. Can you pin this comment as the solution, so that everyone can see it?
