P: PS 26.9 CMD shortcuts give duplicate results

Community Beginner ,
Jul 03, 2025 Jul 03, 2025

Photoshop Beta version 26.9 on MacOS 15.5

- Pressing Cmd + [ or Cmd + ] moves layers **two steps** instead of one.
- Cmd + J creates **two new layers**, not one.
- Issue persists after reinstalling and resetting preferences.
- Not caused by actions/scripts/custom shortcuts.

- Issue is only on Beta Version, not in normal version.

When I copy and paste. It's paste twice instead of once. I tried typing "v" on the text tool to check whether my keyboard is broken or not. But it works normally.

I have the same issue. Also with zooming cmd_- or cmd_+ will zoom in or out twice. It looks like every keyboard command is executed twice. I reset my prefs already, but that didn't help...

I have had a few bugs since updating this morning to version 26.9.
When I copy a layer from one document to another, it will paste two layers every time.

A similar error also occurs when I undo something. If I press 'Cmd z', it will go back two history states instead of one.

When I use the (Mac) keyboard shortcut CMD + Z to undo or CMD + SHIFT + Z to redo, PS Beta goes two steps in the history instead of one. This is consistent on my Intel iMac and M4 Max laptop. The release version is okay.

It's just the keyboard shortcut. If I go through the Edit menu, it goes one step at a time.

I'm on version:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.9.0 20250629.m.3133 0b5383c x64

Thanks.

Using version 26.9 m.3133

MacOS 14.6.1

Having troubles ytying to use the keyboard combination for "Show Guides" and "Show Grid".

The guides and grids doesn't stay visible using the keyboards shortcuts. Seems like they just "blink" and disapears then. Unless when I select the functions on the menu.

Hi Adobe team,

I'm experiencing a consistent bug in the latest version of Photoshop Beta on macOS. Several standard keyboard shortcuts are executing their commands twice with a single keypress:

  • Command-W closes two documents instead of one
  • Command-Plus (+) zooms in twice per press
  • Command-J duplicates a layer twice, creating two new layers instead of one

This behaviour happens consistently and only within Photoshop Beta. I’ve confirmed that it doesn’t occur in the standard Photoshop release or in other applications on my Mac, so it doesn’t appear to be a hardware or OS-level issue.

System info:

  • Device: [Insert your Mac model, e.g. MacBook Pro M1, etc.]
  • macOS Version: [e.g. macOS 14.5]
  • Photoshop Beta Version: [Insert exact version/build]
  • Input devices: Standard Apple keyboard (no third-party macros or input duplication tools active)

Let me know if you'd like a screen recording or further logs — happy to assist.

Thanks,
Nese

When I try to undo in Photoshop, it undoes two steps at once, and when I paste something, it pastes twice.

Thanks for flagging, I have the same issue, since updating to Photoshop Beta 26.9 yesterday.
If I have multiple documents open at once, it will close two documents if I press 'Cmd W'.
Quite frustrating. I'm now using regular Photoshop for the time being til it gets fixed.

Yep, this is happening to me too. Also cmd + Z goes back 2 steps and cmd + shift + Z goes 2 steps forward. Reset preferences to no avail.

I started noticing these issues about two updates ago:
1) Select a layer and press command+j. Two copies of the layer are generated instead of one.
2) Press shift/command+option+e. Two layer dumps are generated instead of one.
3) Select the top layer and press command+e. It merges the top layer and the two layers below it.

There are probably more issues in that section. It is URGENT that this be fixed because these actions (I think) are used very frequently. Thanks in advance.

Preferences are not reset when updating, and I would be very inclined to try a reset.  Especially with the beta version that gets confused more frequently that the release version.  To be safe, do a manual reset, and see if that fixes the issue.

Good luck.

 @CarlosGordillo

Hold off on the Preference Reset.  I have found two more posts from Mac OPS users with similar issue.

Are you aware @CShubert

I'm getting the same, latest Beta 26.9.0 (as of 3rd July) It's also doing this on other shortcuts such as CMD-J and making two layer copies instead of one. If i'm very very quick in pressing the shortcut keys i can make it work as normal sometimes. Wondering if a bug entered the 'Spring Loaded Tool Shortcuts' code maybe?! Turning it on or off makes no difference though..

MAC Tasterturbefehle wie Command + J oder Command + oder - macht immer zwei Schritte, also als wenn man 2 mal den Befehl macht (eingibt).

MAC keyboard commands like Command + J or Command + or - always makes two steps, so as if you make (enter) the command 2 times.
