P: MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max Laggy Liquify

MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max 96GB RAM - Photoshop 24.2
I recently changed to this new computer and photoshop is super laggy in tools like liquify and other filters, the brush lags a lot!
Even the zoom is slow.
Even my 2015 MacBook is faster at these tasks.

I don't know what is going on but something can't be right...

Update!! It worked fine once with a jpg file.

As soon as I opened a psd file the lag is still here...

Even before, I have not experienced the lagging of liquify as others reported (Macbook Pro M2 Max).

I just tested PS 24.3 and PS 23.5.5. 
24.3 works better, but still lag, 23.5.5 works like normal (almost), seems like it's the problem of version PS 24. Hope it helps you guys who works everyday with Liquify like me.

I think I have found a solution. It may have been caused by the function of the "GPU composite".
I found that the old version  did not have this option, so I unselected it and restarted Photoshop, and the lagging problem disappeared for me.
Perhaps it is a bug in the new version of Photoshop.
Everyone can try it out, and I hope Adobe can provide a fix.

Hi Didn't work for me. same unusable Liquify. I tried it on PS 24.4.1 and the new 24.5 Beta from 3 days ago...

This really really sucks. M2 has been out for months now. It's unheard of that Adobe can't figure out the incompatibily

This is getting ridiculus....Still no fix for this issue...My 2019 MacBook with the same version of PS just works.

Photoshop ver.24.4.1

MacBook Pro 14 inch with M2 Pro

liquefy is very laggy and almost impossible to operate

unless I turn off the GPU processor it's will recover,but the image loading will be soooooo slow

I believe all Apple Silicon M2 users are having the same problem as me

pls fixxxxxxxxxxxxxx it 🙂

@CShubert 24.4.1 Photoshop and Liquify still very lagge.

To replicate the steps:

1. I open 5 files in Photoshop (export from Lightroom)
2. I work with the photos in turn and use liquify when working with each file
3. First 1-2 photos don't have lags or issues with liquify 
4. When I work with 3-4th's file and use liquify -> HUGE LAG appears making everything take forever (zoom using keybinds, mouse movements, etc.) 
5. Restart of Photoshop doesn't help 
6. What usually helps is restart of MacBook Pro 2

I know this may sound crazy but it worked for me and I cannot explain it...

I was working the other day with a youtube video playing with the picture in picture feature and Liquify stopped being laggy for some reason..

Tested both jpg and psd and tried several days before posting.

Its not a solution but it may save you some time till an actual solution comes.

Hi everybody, I bought a new Mac Mini M2Pro (16Gb ram and 512gb ssd). Both the Photoshop and Mac OS are updated, and all the Photoshop's tools works fine except the Liquify tool. There is a annoying lag between the mouse and the action of the tool. I tried to push the Photoshop settings at the maximum for better performances but the result is the same. Anyone could help me to solve this problem? Is it possible that Apple is not able to make this software's function well? Thank you in advance

Running 24.4.1 (latest verison of PS) on my MBP M2 Max and also experiencing the liquify lag issue. Is there really no fix for this yet?? Liquify is basically unusable. Please sort this out.

Disabling GPU is the only way to make this thing work but a lot of other things are slower.

Well it seems that today's update for PS Beta 24.6 FINALLY fixes the Liquify issue on M2.

I have to say it's not exactly as smooth as it was on M1 but still works as well and I finally can work without all the aggravation...

I am not using the non-beta version and it seems there is no update for it so if u really need liquify and want to try out the amazing Remove tool, download the beta.
