P: Not detecting older GPU's

I have a AMD HD8490 GPU and installed Photoshop version 21.2 and the GPU is not been detected, I'm not alone as I've come across other people with the same issue on the Photoshop community forum.
Reverting back to 21.1.3 fixes the issue
Why does Adobe release updates to fix bugs and then break something else with the same update.

Photoshop's GPU requirements have increased for 22.0. Try the solutions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/known-issues.html#ProgramErroropeningfiles

If your card is not supported you may need to upgrade your graphics card.

For example @Deleted User's card is very old and is not supported:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html#Unsupportedgraphicscards

It scores less than 200 on this benchmark: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html

We are experiencing the same issue company wide.
More prevalent when laptops are connected to docking stations, PS, AI, AE all refuse to see Quadro T1000, or 960GTX an older test machine.
Lightroom does succesfully detect GPU, even when connected to dock.

Lightroom an ACR have the same issues not detecting the GPU on my system. But I only downgraded PS, because I need the functions there most.

Having this Issue as well, but rollbacking to 21.1.3 didn't work for me. In my case it's not my dedicated NVIDIA but my HD graphics 530 that just randomly stopped detecting in the middle of work (For some reason HD works better than NVIDIA in my case, PSP is one buggy thing).

When I installed PSP 2020 I was amazed on just how smoothly everything ran, even with just HD graphics, finally my layer effects lag issue was gone. I installed 21.2 and everything was going great, until it randomly lagged when opening a file in the middle of work, taking up to 5s per file. When I went to check the performance I noticed it switched to my NVIDIA card even though I have it set to integrated graphics. I rolled back to the first version and it didn't help, it still doesn't detect it.

I am using latest PS v 21.2.0 inside VMWare and it is not working!

SO I am using PS v21.1.2 at the moment now.

Adobe!  You need to do QA!   THIS IS NOT GOOD!

Same issue here. NVIDIA Quadro 2000, latest driver, Windows 10.

Perspective Warp, Render Lighting Effects, Scrubby Zoom not working in PS version 21.2.

Went back to PS version 21.1.3, seems to be working just fine.

Does anyone know, when Adobe is addressing this issue and how we will know, when it's fixed?
Is there any link available to a detailed patch-note list what has been fixed, when it's fixed?

Adobe haven't even responded to this thread as of yet and I posted it a week ago, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a resolution
Bug fixes are normally posted here
https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/bd-p/photoshop?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=al...

Although they never mention what bugs they introduce with the bug fixes LOL

The new version of Photoshop 21.2 doesn't detect my graphic cad any more (Radeon HD6570).

Under the support direction, I tried to reinstall the last diver version but with no success.
The only solution was to restore the previous version of Photoshop 21.1.3

There is a chance to fix the problem?

If the card support it will not be restored the I will need a new card or move to another software

@Roberto Incerti
I upgraded my work PC to a 2018 GPU and still the same issue, this update has not been tested by Adobe.
Photoshop users have become beta testers, Adobe's QA is sadly non existent

@Jeffrey Tranberry
Why has Adobe not responded to this thread

Upgraded? To 2018?  This is, you must know, 2020. You must have purchased that on E-Bay

Are you for real, I know what year it is, 2018 was only 2 years ago and there's no reason why that card shouldn't work and no I didn't purchase it from EBAY infact I got it from one of our work PC's that was upgraded to a 2018 4GB card from a 2GB.
FYI I recently upgraded my home PC to a RTX2060 super, release date 2019 so do you not consider that an upgrade either.
If I upgrade a mechanical hard drive to a 2018 SSD do you not consider that an upgrade either.
Maybe you should check out the meaning of the word upgrade
"raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve (equipment or machinery) by adding or replacing components."
To upgrade something does not mean you have to upgrade to the most recent year.
For someone that has 40 years experience as you mentioned, I seriously have to question that judging by your last comment

It's not hostility, you questioned a 2018 GPU as an upgrade, I'm just explaining to you the meaning of what an upgrade actually is.

Hmmm... Photoshop 2020 V 21.2 and an Upgrade GPU from 2018...

Here's the phrase that expresses hostility "For someone that has 40 years experience as you mentioned, I seriously have to question that judging by your last comment"

A GPU from 2018 is quite decent.
Not everyone upgrades his/her hardware every year, especially if you are running a business and have to upgrade multiple workstations.
It's a question of free money to spend for various hardware, like camera gear, computers and other stuff.
IMHO everyone can expect a software from 2020 to work flawlessly with hardware from 2018.

OK explain to me how a GTX1080 card release date 2016 works with 21.2 and a 2018 card doesn't, considering they both use the same Nvidia driver
As I mentioned before do you really expect people to upgrade they're GPU's to 2020 cards so they can run Photoshop 21.2 when older cards work fine with 21.1.3
And you think your comment was OK
"Upgraded? To 2018?  This is, you must know, 2020. You must have purchased that on E-Bay"

The problem is something within the Photoshop upgrade; I think that is pretty clear. I hope that Adobe is burning the midnight oil trying to figure this out!

Ebay ?????    The current RTX Titan is a 2018 card as is the RTX2080Ti - are you suggesting they are not up to running Photoshop and are only available on ebay?
So once again, until Adobe staff confirm that this is either a simple bug in Photoshop or sniffer.exe or indeed is a new hardware minimum requirement we should not be suggesting that folk go out and buy 2020 GPUs (if for no other reason than the latest NVidia cards are 2018/19)

There are no lines for glgpu. That could be a driver issue. Is there a file like nvoglv32.dll or nvoglv64.gll in your \windows\system32 directory or one of the subdirectories? It's odd to see OpenCL results in the sniffer report but not OpenGL. It could point at busted OpenGL drivers and falling back on to the microsoft reference driver, which only supports OpenGL 1.2. If so, you'll need to reinstall drivers.

If it was not a bug, they should have updated their requirements spec, and a warning before installation, end of story.
But if it turns out that Adobe decides to update "lately" the requirements for 21.2... besides the money question, what about environment then? vendors forcing buying a card of the same year just because "we need to buy more stuff"? Sure... meanwhile 38°C in Siberia this week, highest peak ever recorded.
Hopefully they won't chose this way.
