Until this is fixed, it's possible to use the command line based ExifTool to embed an ICC profile (as well as remove it)!

Mac:

exiftool '-ICC_Profile<=/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended/sRGB Color Space Profile.icm' '/Users/username/Desktop/test.tif'

Win:

exiftool "-ICC_Profile<=C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color\sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" "C:\Users\username\Desktop\test.tif"

My issue involves a specific profile that is already embedded in various files that I have been able to open without an issue for years. Suddenly this profile is "Invalid" and cannot be assigned nor can I view an image properly that already has this profile embedded.

I have the same issue, except that Photoshop can see my custom profiles in the list, but when I try to assign it to the image, I get the "Invalid Profile" error. Troubleshooting with adobe support couldn't fix the issue, and the only solution was to return to previous verision of Photoshop (25.1). The support rep suggested to wait for the next update, and skip 25.2, but now I see that 25.3.1 still has the bug.

We have various custom color profiles in photoshop, which were created with Xrite color targets and software to get more accurate color for scanned artwork and photos. Starting with Photoshop 25.2, there is an "Invalid Profile" error when trying to assign a custom color profile to an image. The bug is still there in Photoshop 25.3.1. The pc runs Windows 10, 64-bit. Screenshot below.

Can you check whether the profile is v2 or v4.

Are you able to post an example profile.

There is an existing thread on this, but it seems to be mainly Mac users.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/p-photoshop-25-2-amp-up-could-not-complete-t...

It would still be good to see an example profile and confirm whether it is v2 or v4

Had the same thing pop up today for first time, using windows 10. No problems previuosly with self generated profiles.

Difficult to locate profile as photoshop will only open as untagged sRGB, got so many profiles that Ive made for the scanner over time not sure which one it is. Got any ideas Dave as to what program to open it up in that will list ICC profile apart from Photoshop.

Thanks - I just tried both those profiles and got the program error. I can read them using ICCdump but cannot see what might cause them to fail. My other profiles load without issue.

@kevin stohlmeyer  Just trying to find out what particular profile type/content causes the issue. That way it may be possible to remake a usable profile that does not generate the error.

That's a feature of Windows OS, not Adobe. I'm glad you found a workaround until this is fixed.

I work in a company who makes ICC profiles. I can open my RGB profiles with Photoshop 24.7 and below than this one, but I have this error opening the pictures with Photoshop 25.3.1. The software is correctly installed and happens in windows and Mac, Photoshop developer team has changed something that cannot open my pictures with the ICC assigned.
I give an example to anyone who wants to try

@Luis34348589s9mw  There is an acknowledged bug in the current version (25.3.1). It doesn't happen with all profiles and I've been looking at one or two to see if I could identify what is triggering it in specific profiles to try and find a workaround whilst Adobe fix the issue (I do not work for Adobe) . In the meantime you can revert to the previous version.

Ok, thank you. We can only wait to Adobe developers to fix the problem. If we have many profiles with the same bug maybe they can find the problem, they have changed something in the new Photoshop versions, and only them can fix it
