P: Photoshop (v25.5.1 & v25.6) opening with black/blank home screen

Hey folks!

I was working with photoshop and illustrator, then I went to lunch and closed both apps.
When booting them up again, Photoshop "home screen" is black. I can't open recent files.

When I open a saved .psd, the file opens correctly.

Already updated to the 25.5.1 version.

This is the screen I get everytime I start photoshop and when I click on the home button on the upper left.

I've already tried - reinstalling PS, rolling back to 25.5, and resetting preferences but still no luck.

Can anyone help me fix this please.

i have the same problem. i can open existing PSD files, but cant access Photoshop's homepage (house icon top left). currently using File>New to start new documents, but it is a weird bug.

Thanks that doesnt work either. Only way to get rid of black screen is press esc and you have tools and workspace as normal.

Not ideal.... Adobe need to sort this.........

Everybody telling people to do this and that to see if it fixes it.First thing this many people are not going to have the same problem.Its the program and update. Everybody saying 25.6.0 is Beta then why did it come out as a normal update? I dont do beta.It wont even run on a 3 day old M2 Max. Camera Raw dont even show up in it. PS is the only program on this computer besides what was on it out of the box.

This issue began today and may be related to the recent Windows update.

Note also, this happened in Premiere Pro too, but only once. As soon as I noticed the issue in Photoshop, I started checking my other apps. Premiere pro has been working normally since. After Effects and Audition are also fine.

But photoshop was working normally when I left the house (before the Windows update). I returned 20 minutes later, and I had no Home screen on Photoshop startup, nor can I get to the home screen by clicking the Home icon/button while in a project.

On startup it looks as though the home screen/window appears for an instant and then disappears. The home screen may even flicker a bit before disappearing. Either way, the home screen disappears quickly.

Clicking the icon/button while in an open project (icon/button not available on startup), the home screen/window does not appear.

NOTE:

1) I have reset preferences

2) Show home screen is enabled

3) I reset PS completely

4) I then uninstalled/reinstalled PS

But the issue persists. Here's a video:

I've spent my morning trying to open Photoshop, I have optimized my mac's storage and updated my mac itself. Restarted it, I have set the settings on Photoshop to open homescreen automatically and do not have any updates for Photoshop. No matter what I've tried, Photoshop opens like this, maybe I'm missing something.

PhotoShop Workaround- Not sure if this is the correct way - not sure of
what history is left - but I got it to work with Photoshop 25.6.0 on M2 Mac

1. With photoshop new funky only blank black window up go to photoshop
tab up top and select Preferences - See General
2. Click General
3. See “Reset Preferences On Quit”
4. Take a breath
5. See “OKAY” > Click “OKAY”
6. Next, Click Preferences > click “OKAY”
7. Before anything else Go to top tab Photoshop -> Quit Photoshop
8. Quitting/Restarting Photoshop Preferences resets Preferences from
most recent history supposedly…
9. It still comes up with the black screen but - clicking New under
PHOTOSHOP opens it up and allows you functionality by adding a template and
all tools functioning again, w/ ability to add saved art or png or
whatever- or starting something new. Again I don’t see the history of work
but I can at least trudge forward… I’m no expert but at least I can
continue working and hopefully catching up to stay on schedule… Maybe CC
has our historical masterpieces....
10. Maybe Adobe is working on a better work around asap - but I gotta
work now… Hope this helps…
