P: Photoshop (v25.5.1 & v25.6) opening with black/blank home screen

Explorer ,
Mar 18, 2024 Mar 18, 2024

Hey folks!

I was working with photoshop and illustrator, then I went to lunch and closed both apps.
When booting them up again, Photoshop "home screen" is black. I can't open recent files.

When I open a saved .psd, the file opens correctly.

Already updated to the 25.5.1 version.

The team has been informed about this. We advise against renaming UXP folders as various other Adobe Apps share this directory, which may result in unexpected behaviors & broken workflows.

Update: Follow the steps here to refresh caches for an essential Creative Cloud component.

Steps for Windows (Steps for macOS shared below - click 'Jump to reply')
  1. Quit Photoshop.
  2. Go to C:\Users\useprofilename\appData\roaming\adobe\ccx welcome
      Press Windows + R & type in - %appdata%\Adobe\CCX Welcome  &

Hey, @Why_ATL

You're in the correct folder; instead of just Photoshop, empty all the contents of the CCX folder.

Thanks!
Sameer K

Aguardo retorno.

Thank you greatly, @Sameer K

It worked! The only part I did not understand was: "Hold down the Option key & click on the 'GO' menu from the top & select Library.

But, I read in one of your comment replys to clear all the folders in CCX and not just Photoshop. It totally worked! Thank you greatly again, @Sameer K!

Is there an issue with Photoshop Home Screen?
Both my girlfriend's and mine have gone blank. Neither of us changed any settings.  We have tired disabled the Home Screen option and re-enabled the show Home Screen button in settings.
This didn't fix the issue at all.

Hi there,

I dont know what is happening here, suddenly every time I start up photoshop on its own I get this blank photoshop window frame on the startup (see screenshot)

If however I open a picture from Bridge its okay, photoshop shows fine.

What is going on here and how to bring it back to the old. I have the last version of Photoshop and Bridge and MacOS.

@Bryan T. Valdivieso on a Mac in the Finder window go to the "Go" Menu and hold the Option key. A hidden Library directory will show.

I'm trying to find where to begin step 2, I have never had an issue like this before so I don't know what "C:\Users\useprofilename\appData\roaming\adobe\ccx welcome" means. Is this on creative cloud app? I've tried researching where to begin these steps but am having troubles.

Home Screen Displays if you are Logged out of your Adobe Account,

I'm also experiencing this problem on a Mac using Sonoma using the latest Photoshop 25.5.1.

Maybe this will help your investigation. I noticed that I see some object outlines before the home screen goes fully black.

I found that if I log out of my Adobe Account and then launch Photoshop, the Home Screen displays correctly. However, a couple of seconds after I log back in to my Adobe Account the Home screen flashes and goes black.

Worked perfectly for me, thank you. I'm very new to this and just got my Adobe plan last week. I was worried I somehow corrupted the damn thing barely even a week of having it!

Same issue here--blank home screen, and even when a document loads after opening it in recent files, it lags when I try to do anything. Using a brand new Mac M3 Pro so I know it's not my machine. Tried reinstalling and even restarting my computer but to no avail.

Abro Photoshop y me sale esto en blanco, sin las opciones previas para abrir un archivo nuevo o recientes...

Alguien sabe como restaurarlo para que se vuelvan a ver las opciones?

Gracias! 😄
