Last update of ps 2020 there are problems with select and mask. Cannot display selection preview. When I select before I go into select and mask it shows right. When I adjust it will not show my adjustments. But when I step out of select and mask, adjustments are made. I have no control over what is selected.

Hello, go to your CC app, to update Photoshop to 22.4.2, as it fixes this problem: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html

If you do not see an update, go to help>search for updates.

Siliva, SM should designate Select and Mask.

Are you on Mac or Windows? Does disabling Graphics Processor in the preferences make the problem go away?

Does disabling the GPU and restarting Photoshop make a difference? That would give me a lot more to go on in terms or narrowing down the problem. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html#DisableGraphicsProcessor

A little video or your process and what you're seeing would be helpful, as well.

Zero out all your settings in SM to see if that fixes it.
There's been a long history of issues with large images and making selections which have settings applied.

Great! I also went ahead and filed another bug report about this issue, so hopefully it gets resolved in a future release.

I am having the same problem. I just wiped my hard drive and reinstalled Big Sur and Adobe software, and now the refine edge will not display. Can you please explain what you mean by SM?

Yeah, it's happening with me too and this is the only instance I can find someone mentioning it. I think it's safe to say that it's a new problem seeing as we're both here on a year old post

I am having the same problem.  When I make adjustments to the layer mask the large preview is not updated, although the small thumbnail on the right hand panel does reflect the changes.  However, when I close and reopen the mask the changes I've made have actually been applied.

I have tried turning off graphics processor but makes no difference.

I am running a 2019 MacBook Pro

I went back and installed an older version in order to get work done. No problems with the older version.

I installed an older version of 2020 and that has worked. It does not have the newer features but at least I can use it.

Thanks Siciliana.  I actually tried this a couple of hours ago and you are right, everything works fine again - it was driving me crazy, I am pretty new to Photoshop and thought I was doing something wrong.  Not sure how such a basic feature as this has become broken.

Hi Darren,

I just dropped down one version to 22.3.1 and it seems to work fine.

I'd be curious to know if the new version 22.4.1 fixes the problem.

The new version 22.4.1 doesn't work either. I also found that just 22.3.1 works.
