I upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey in early January 2022. All my print processes have been running perfectly since then. (I had the same problem as this one with Big Sur starting in November). However, when I updated to 12.2.1, the problem I had in Big Sur returned. It is exactly the same problem and with it I cannot print with the correct ICC profiles.
I run an iMac (late 2015) and print with an Epson P900. Through January and February, using Monterey, the printing process was normal, just like it has been for many years.
After 12.2.1 was installed, I can no longer find all the ICC profiles that I need for printing when I use the Photoshop dialogue box. When I set for Photoshop to control the printer and then look for a profile, I cannot see any Epson ICC profiles, nor most of my other profiles (for example, my Ilford ICC profiles. This is exactly what happened when I updated to Big Sur 10.6.1.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Epson driver (which comes with the Epson paper ICC profiles) and then uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop. All to no avail.
I've read other places that some have the same problem and they've gone back to 12.2 in order to get it to work properly. I'm willing to do that but so far I haven't been able to contact anyone at Apple who really knows how. I'm going to continue to pursue that, but I need the time to do so.
I will also try and find someone in the Adobe support team that can help me, but I confess, I haven't had much success with that in the past.
Thank goodness I don't have any customers for whom I need to provide prints and I hope I can get this sorted before that need arrives.....which it will.
If anyone has suggestions for me, I'd be happy to receive them.

Epson printer profiles are missing in Photoshop manages color in the print dialog (Mac)
To use "Photoshop Manages Color" properly (to make accurate prints) you need access to the printer manufacturer's paper specific profiles, since you need to select the relevant paper profile in that dialog.
Using "Printer Manages Color" should work for Epson’s own papers, as long as the printer driver is correctly installed.
Printer Manages Color [based on the media type selected] calls upon ICC printer p

Of course, and you see the profile dropdown and the paper profiles.
But that doesnt seem intuitive at all. The paper profile should be visible in the printer's dialog, and be available to other apps. If I select printer manages, then the profile does not appear.

I didn't understand it either. I was trying to figure out how renaming that folder set in motion correcting the printer issue. It worked and it's the steps I slightly caught as I was doing other work and then asked him to show it to me when I was in front of the computer.
The most important thing here was figuring out what the issue was, if it was a MAC OS, Epson, or Adobe and it was Adobe. Anyoneelse reading this will be able to narrow it down a little easier.

For what it's worth, I have switched from Adobe too Gimp/Inkscape, and I also cannot find custom profiles from Permajet.
I even tried copying them inside the hidden package folder, restarting OSX, and they refuse to show up.

Maybe ask on the Gimp/Inkscape support forum?

Although the print dialog styling is different in Gimp and Inkscape (and Photoshop), it is populated with the exact same content.
The issue is with Epson's printer driver not picking up icc or icm files.
I have verified that these files are scanned / repaired and present in OSX / Utilities / ColorSync Utility.

@optimystery how do you know that "The issue is with Epson's printer driver not picking up icc or icm files"
I presume you mean when printing with "Printer manages color"? That’s when the print driver uses the manufacturers own (often hidden) profiles
I hope this helps

One uses application color management and thus you pick the profile, rendering intent, BPC etc.
One uses the printer to manage color which doesn't.
The profile IS available to other app's that support Application Manages Color.

I may be missing something, but why then can I select from this list of icc profiles through the Epson dialog?

What you can select (Media settings, not ICC profiles) and how you should be using Application Manages Color are two entirely different things.

Ok thanks, then I think the fact that media types were quite specific lef me to believe that was the place to be selecting the paper profile. So, presumably I would be choosing the Oyster paper profile in PS, and then something like Premium Semigloss in media type. I will query that with PermaJet.

You have to select the media setting and then the profile which was built with that media setting.

@optimystery "What I really want to know is why it's not possible to add custom paper profiles to that printer dialog list" I wonder if this info might be of assistance?
Please let us know how/if it works out, I read this a while back and saved it:
Epson Media Installer
The Epson Media Installer software is an optional software install, which can be used to acquire media settings and profiles. It’s meant to be a route for all paper suppliers to make profiles/media settings available for the printer. At the moment, there is no ‘user’ access to the tools for doing this
You can however make your own copies of installed media and install them on your printer
If you use a lot of a particular paper it may be worth adding to the printer. The named profile will be used for ‘automatic’ applications which print without you needing to specify an ICC profile. This works in Epson Print Layout for example.
I hope this helps

Ad Digitaldog wrote, those listed there are NOT 'ICC profiles', they are Epson 'media types', IF "printer manages color" was selected in Photoshop, then selecting a media calls up an ICC profile from Epson hidden profiles folder.
To use your custom ICC profiles you'll ideally use "Photoshop Manages Color" and select from that list
it works better that way too
the Epson printer dialog does not have any opportunity to manually select between ICC profiles
I hope this helps

What is the question / issue with Photoshop?

After switching to Monterey, every time there was an update my printer profiles disappeared like yours. To this day, it happens every time I update! I know how to get your profiles back! I open media configuration tool (add paper). Select import. Locate your icc profile folder and update. Remember to update your printer drivers which it should automatically prompt you to do. This is what works for me. It's frustrating, but no where near as frustrating as not having access to your profiles. Hope this helps!

I made some custom printer profiles using an 1i studio. They were visible in the Photoshop manages color in the print window.
After updating they dissapeared.
They were still visible in convert to profile.
I found the rather disturbing statement:
In Photoshop, profiles that aren't appropriate for the chosen printer don't appear in the Print dialog box.
https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/kb/profiles-missing-print-dialog-box.html
Looking at the profiles themselves in Colorsync:
in fields 1 and 2 the region was set to US
I am in UK.
Editing the Region to UK resulted in the profiles reappearing in the print window.

Thanks for posting this info, Matthew.
I opened my Colorsync application using 'Spotlight Search' on my Mac Studio. I got lots of info including all the information on the profiles. There were a couple that needed repair, so that was a useful step.
What I couldn't find was the place where you see the "Fields 1 and 2" where you say the region is set. Can you give me some guidance as to how you get to that screen?
Thanks,
