Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.
UPDATED: NEW LINK
Everyone, would it be possible for you to share your installer log when trying to install the 24.2 build? Feel free to email to shubert@adobe.com

Thank you,

@Jay LI installing Rosetta 2 has been a noted workaround. If you do not want to install Rosetta 2, you can install the previous build until an M2 solution is available.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer Thanks for the suggestion. I have installed 24.1 successfully. I don't upgrade 24.2 until the issue is sovled

Decause 24.2 di dnot install/run I installed 24.1.1 and switched off auto updates in the CC app. Today when I launched Photoshop I got the error message 'elements are missing... re-install...' On checking my version CC had attempted to update to 24.2? I have uninstalled and re-installed 24.1.1 again so problem sorted but would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar issue. Why would CC updated when auto updated are switched off?

I'm experiencing the very same issue on my brand new M2 Pro Mac mini: an update to 24.2 is shown in the CC app, but its installation fails and exists with error 183...
It's a pity Adobe still didn't provide a fix yet, while it has been known for more than 10 days. It really shouldn't be like that.

Thanks, I am aware of that, but this is not a fix I am expecting to see from Adobe.
1. Why should I install a compatibility layer in order to update a native app which was just fine without it prior to that release?
2. If some components of Photoshop suddenly do require Rosetta2 in that release, what keeps Adobe from promting me to install it - instead of just failing and spitting an error message?
That is what I meant by "it shouldn't be like that".
Cheers.

Completely agree with you. This 'should be' an easy fix, but it seems Adobe willwait until the next dot update. I can live without Photoshop until then.

Trying to install Photoshop via creative cloud, producing error 183 and the following log, which doesn't seem to match the previously published 183 errors and logs. System is Mac Pro M1, iOS Venura 13.2.1, Lightroom installed without any problems.
Help would be very much appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Hi, I am a PS user with no programming skills. I see in this thread that many people prefer not to install Rosetta and I wonder if there is any reason not to do so. Can it cause some kind of problem in the system or in other applications?
By the way, I'm on an M1 iMac running Ventura 13.2.1. Reinstalling PS 24.1.1 at the moment.

the people that don't want to install rosetta are, most likely, trying to keep their computers clear of necessary installations and are confident adobe will resolve the problem without needing rosetta in the future.

I can't install the latest version of Photoshop on Mac (V24.2) despite several refreshers and updates across all other apps. Each installation fails. Since the new update appeared I can't access Photoshop at all. Any idea on what to do?

Besides this new PS issue, Acrobat ist still not installable on Apple Silicon as the installer requires rosetta. I think it's about time that Adobe keeps up with all other vendors who are obviously able to roll out native apps without requiring rosetta. Be it for the installer or the app to run properly. If the latest update to photoshop all of a sudden has issues running without rosetta, I seriously have some doubts, whether Adobe agrees on what defines a native app.
