Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.
UPDATED: NEW LINK
Everyone, would it be possible for you to share your installer log when trying to install the 24.2 build? Feel free to email to shubert@adobe.com

Thank you,

Photoshop 24.2 definitely has some issues with the M2 chip it seems. I think it's redundant to run it in Rosetta as we're not on intel chips anymore. Running apps in Rosetta on the M2's are noticeably slower and also Apple needs to slow it down coming out with so many devices with different chipsets as it's not needed and causes problems like these making it possible to go back to windows format. I'm skipping this update until they properly test the next set of updates before pushing them to the creative cloud app

UPDATE: I tried to update Photoshop 24.2 many times and got the error 113 which is can't reach adobe servers. I'm on the new mac mini with the M2 and all of the updates have been successful until now. I added Creative Cloud app to the firewall list to allow connections after I updated the rest of the apps that needed updates for Lightroom and XD. What do you know Photoshop updated with no problems. This is the first time I've ever had to add the Creative Cloud to the firewall list just to update Photoshop since I've had the new mac mini.

24.3 has been released and hopefully fixes the M2 problem.

If you read my update you would see it's very related. Everyone here could not get it updated or installed 🤷🏽:male_sign:

Hi @JHillPhD are you on a M1/M2 Mac with error code 183?
You indicated that you have an error code 113 - which is a firewall/network connection issue, unrelated to the original post. Here is how to resolve your specific issue: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/common-network-connectivity-issues.html

I posted my update yesterday night in this thread and yes it did work. It's weird that everything updated with no problem except Photoshop.

the posters here have (or should have) error 183. you have a different error with a different solution.
in addition, this thread is a mess because many different people have had their messages moved here and that's been a problem mainly because this is a bug forum that organizes messages in a particular way that makes it difficult to conduct sub-conversations.

Totally understand but if the original poster has a subject line typed out like this one then you'll get everyone here posting in regards to the same situation regardless of the error code. Some users don't know how to see the error code within CC but since I looked it up I knew what to do right away. Once errors have been reported it should be listed that way everyone can post to the appropriate thread with some workaround solutions would be best. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with Photoshop updating since I've had my M2 but everything else updated smoothly before I added CC to the firewall settings

@kglad I wouldn't go changing the thread - Adobe employees have been merging and managing this thread with updates.

Hi guys, I don't see the 24.3 update in my CC - it still wants to install the 24.2 (which won't).
Is it some kind of beta we may apply for or where did you get that? 🙂
Thanks!

adobe updates are rolled out to users in waves. ie, not all users see updates appear at the same time. generally within one week, you'll see the update appear in your app. and you can reset your app occassionally,
reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:
Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

@kglad Thanks for the info - didn't know Adobe does those "wavy" releases. I actually did reset CC app many times already - it is still showing me 24.2 (which is a bit frustrating).
Anyhow - it's wait and see, I guess... 😏
