We had a lot of fun with our end of year challenge in the snow. So, for our first challenge in 2023, I thought we might exchange the cold snow for warmer sand and head for the beach. I snapped this particular beach, at Sangobeg on the North coast of Scotland, a few years ago. It is a lovely place, even if the temperature is a bit lower than the Caribbean. The question is - what can you make with this empty scene?
The “rules”:
* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc
* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".
* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

Very subtle shadows JEL, and I love the magazine context. There's some great humour in this as well.

Thanks, @davescm and @Trevor.Dennis, I'm glad someone gets my jokes. The August issue was also a success. Soon enough, I'll be hiring feature writers! I snapped this shot in Ecuador and I think this little one is missing an ear. But very friendly.

Doing Hiking along animal is really amazing thing that i have done although mountains are so much easy we can use car but no one find a batter locksmith so we have to go with animals.

@Frank24936568mmrn I think it's wonderful, too. Do you have any photos to share of your mountain hikes? Most of the animals appreciate having a sense they are working (probably my fanciful imagination), but sometimes the packs seem so heavy for their little bodies! We have lively conversations about what is a mule and what is a donkey, lol. Not that it's hard to tell, but for some reason, the jackass jokes start flying anyway. FWIW, a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. Mules are hybrids and donkeys are a unique species from the equine family. Also, compared to horses, donkeys and mules are more intelligent. But do you know which makes the hee-haw sound? My dream is to have a donkey rescue ranch.

Hi,
here is my interpretation of Vince at the beach.

Welcome to SFTW Henrik. I hope he like cats! A few shadows and reflections would help them sit in the scene 🙂

Those cats in the distance remind me of an episode from The Goodies. Who remembers them?

That looks like a fine place for my towel.

You may need a wetsuit as well Monika 🙂

Block the place first, think about everything else later.

Some more nicely done shadows. They make all the difference tying composited elements to the background.
Google Translate impressed me with the text on the towel. I initially read it as Heir Inge ich which was not making much sense for me, and Google asked 'Did you mean Heir bige ich' which gave me a much more sensible 'Here I am.' We have come a long way from the few Gb of data on Microsoft's Encarta DVD to the apparently infinite data and tools we have available online now. While we are a ways off from turning into sparkles and instantly relocating a few thousand miles away, todays smart phones are getting close to the capabilities of a Star Trek tricorder. They are orders of magnitude less clunky than the early tricorder designs as well!

Trevor, that sentence is Hier liege ich, which is right for the towel right now, and most likely also for Monika right after the photo.

Neither “Heir Inge ich” nor “Heir bige ich” makes much sense. 😄
@Monika Gause's composite is a sidekick to the German (?) Unart to reserve places at the pool/beach with a towel: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belegen_von_Liegest%C3%BChlen
You need to translate the article, as there exists no English version of it!

It closer to the mark than you think Abambo. Since they publicised the North Coast 500 route - the roads became a little to busy for their size and capability to handle all the campervans.
