Keep document centered after cropping (not using the crop tool).

When I am editing a lot of photos and I need to crop an image, I usually use the non crop tool.  When I'm done, depending on the size of the document, I have to use the slide bars to move the image back into center view.  Seems to me there should be a "return image to center after cropping".  Adobe help line suggests I use the crop tool which will keep the image centered but then that creates another issue.  If I want to just save that newly cropped document back to a .jpg, I have to flatten the image which creates another step or thing to do.  Then Adobe suggested to use the crop tool to keep the image centered and then just save it as a copy.  Well then that created yet another issue, you now have 2 documents, the original and now a copy.  I don't need or desire another copy, I'm just lookig to keep my cropped doument centered on my screen without needing to add any more mouse clicks, or copies, etc.  If it can't be done then I'm Ok with that but this doesn't seem to be that difficult for Adobe to look at or improve.  If there is a simple way to do this (like in the preferences) then I can't find it and the Adobe online help person I was working with must not be aware of it either or else the person would have shown me that.  Maybe I am the only person who would like to see this and it's not worth Adobe's efforts - I'm OK with that too.  So the best thing to do is make this recommendation and see what happens.

@wmorani – I can't mark the reply from @Jeff Arola as a correct answer, can you please do so, thanks!

Also in Photoshop go to Edit>Preferences>Tools and uncheck Overscroll which might be the reason your image is not staying centered after cropping with the Rectangular Marquee tool.

You can also use the View > Fit On Screen or Fit Layer(s) On Screen to centre and zoom.

No idea what you mean by "non crop tool".

The crop tool has an option to (permanently) delete cropped pixels, which retains the flattened Background layer, allowing you to easily save an 8bpc file as a JPEG if there are no alpha channels.

Otherwise enable legacy save as in your file handling preferences.

Good point. My non crop tool I should have used "Rectangular Marquee" tool. I've always used that and then just pressed "crop" in the Image dropdown menu. This allows me to go directly to where I wanted to crop.

I will check to see if I have the Legacy Save option selected in preferences and see what that does.
