Question

converting DNG to JPEG

I have read everything I could find on this subject and nothing is working for me.  I decided to try shooting in RAW.  I edited them in PSE.  It only allows me to save the photos as DNG.  Is there any way to convert them to JPEG?  Otherwise, they will not open in "My pictures"

Thank you

Proprietary raw files and Adobe raw (DNG) will open in the Camera Raw dialog. You first make adjustments with the sliders e.g. highlights & shadows, whites/blacks clarity etc. Then you send the image into the regular Editor. For jpeg ensure bits/channel is set to 8 bits and then click the “Open Image” button. From the menu choose:

    File >> Save As

    Choose jpeg and save.

    Good explanation.

Note that if you have to convert a batch of DNG or raw files to jpeg without any further editing, it will be faster to use one of those solutions:

    - From the editor: You open your batch of DNG/raw files. You select all in the ACR module and click 'Open'. You select all in the editor, then you can use the menu option File >> Process multiple files to create jpeg versions.

    - From the organizer: select your DNG or raw files and use the menu File >> Export as new files.

For jpeg ensure bits/channel is set to 8 bits

That still holds true. If you set the bits/channels to 8 bits for one image, that setting is 'sticky' and will be used for further editing including batch processes.
