You may have a built-in video card e.g. Intel or a third party GPU such as Nvidia or on Mac OS an M1 to M4 chip.   Launch the Editor and go to: Preferences > Performance   You should see if your card is automatically recognised and if the checkbox “use GPU” is activated. You can try switching that on or off to see if it makes a difference.    GPU accelaration is not always required; it is normally required for complex editing functions but is sometimes needed for rendering large files.
