How Do I stop my Elements pictures going to the cloud

Could someone tell me how to stop my 160,000 Organizer photos going to the cloud. They go to the cloud and Google Photos when I upload new pictures. I  never asked for this, it never used to happen,  I am being charged, and do not need it.  Do I need the cloud for anything?  I have a PC, an iPad and and an iPhone, so just wish social media, emails and Google Photos for pictures taken by my phone.  Thank you.

Elements has nothing to do with your photos being sent to Google Photos.  You must have set up Google Photos to upload the same photos that are imported into the Organizer.

I have no idea what you mean by this question.  The Cloud is not something that you can switch on or off unless you turn off your internet service connection.  Turning off your internet connection will stop all emails being sent or received on that particular device.  If you turn off your internet connection on your computer, you can still use your iPad for emails (if it is connected to the internet).

The Cloud references a network of computer servers that are managed by different providers such as Google and Adobe.  You have to have separate accounts to access the files stored in the Cloud.  Any files that are stored in your Google Photos account cannot be accessed by Adobe unless you somehow give permission for Adobe to access them.  As far as Elements is concerned, it can only use photos stored on your local hard drive or photos stored on the Elements Web via an Adobe account.

As for your inability to see the Auto Sync option in the Preferences dialog, are you sure you are looking at the Organizer's preferences and not the Editor's?  If that is the case, please show us a screenshot of your Organizer's Preferences dialog.

Also show us a screenshot of the dialog that opens when you click the Cloud icon in the upper right of the Organizer window.

What version of Elements are you using?  Glenn's solution is only necessary if you are unable to turn off auto sync in the Organizer's preferences.  Unfortunately, Adobe has chosen to turn this feature on by default.  I totally disagree with this decision, but we are left to deal with it.  Here is a screen shot of the Elements 2024 Organizer's Edit>Preferences dialog.  The Elements 2025 dialog is similar.

Thank you.  I have Elements 2024.  When I click Prefernces it does not show Auto Sync, otherwise it is the same as yours.  I consider myself an expert on Elements having used it for 20 years, but not on computers, so would not dare to try Glenn's solution, I fear it is too complicated for me.
