Just a suggestion: are you in Expert mode?

If you mean the Photomerge >> Style match, that option has been discontinued in recent versions (Photomerge is started from Guided Edits, not expert mode).

Hi there, thank you for responding, yes  I was in expert mode but have realised the difference between elements and cs6 - in reality it was cs6 that I should have purchased but that is no longer available- its now cc

In regards to guided edits, what I wanted was to extract colour from a part of a picture - say the lip colour in one picture and paste that exact colour into another picture where the lips are a different shape- so keeping the exact colour quality but replicating it into anoher picture. How do I do that???I have tried it with that dropper tool and it doesn't extract the colour like for like- it extracts what it thinks is a similar colour and I cannot find that colour match option in guided edits, how do I achieve this???

Thanks

  1. Go to Expert tab
  2. Open both pictures so that you can see them side-by-side (2 up).
  3. Activate the eye dropper tool and click on the lip with the color that you wish to capture. Your foreground color chip should change to this color.
  4. On the destination picture, use the selection brush or the lasso tool to select the lips. (Probably best to do one lip at a time).
  5. Place the selected lip on its own layer (CTRL+J)
  6. Then, go to Edit>Fill selection>Contents>Use foreground color
  7. Open a Hue/saturation adjustment layer above the layer with the lip and clip the adjustment layer to the layer with the lip below (CTRL+G). Work the hue/saturation/lightness sliders to fine-tune the color. You can adjust the layer opacity in the layers palette, if necessary.
  8. Repeat for the other lip.

You may want to check that the resolution of both pictures is identical, or at least close. You can do that via Image>resize>image size and read the value in px.in.
