Issue With Productions - Slow & Lagging Timeline - Possible Proxies Issue?

Hey all,

I've been working on an edit that is setup in a production format and have run into some super frustrating issues with slow performance.  I have 5x days of footage from a shoot totaling about 9TB, with all content from each shoot day ingested into its own project.  From there I have an assembly project where I've compiled all of the selects into two primary timelines.  Within these timelines the clips are organized by categories that are identified by adjustment layers.  During the assembly process everything seemed to be working relatively fine however I recently hit a point where it turned a corner and started being extremely slow/non-functional.

I'm wondering if the length of content in the timelines (around 8 hrs per timeline) is too much for the system to handle, however its odd because I was working ok as I was building them out (it basically started acting up once I transitioned into editing the film).

The other factor I'm wondering about is proxies; I usually just work with native format but on this one I decided to try out proxies.  Over the past few days I've gradually been building out proxies for everything in ProRes Proxy Format.  My thinking is that this would improve performance but I'm wondering if there is some issue with the way these are indexed or accessed - potentially because they are being generated after the content was already copied from their original projects into the assembly timeline?  When I do go into the assembly timelines I see many of the proxy icons showing an exclamation point which I believe means they are offline or not synced.  When I reveal these clips in their original projects they appear as media pending in their bins and it seems to take quite a while for them to connect.

Some stats:

- M1 Ultra, 64 GB Ram, OS Sonoma 14.5

- Premier V25.4

- Project, Media and Assets on QNAP TBS-h574TX Thunderbolt 4 with 4x 8tb SSD's in RAID5

- Media Cache & Preview Files on SanDisk extreme pro

- I have tried clearing and fully deleting media cache

- Cameras are a range from RED Raptor, Inspire 3, Mavic Mini, Sony FX30

Ideas I'm considering:

- Breaking the assembly timelines into smaller sections

- Detaching all proxy files to see if that changes anything

- Loading the project on my backup OWC spinning disk raid drive - maybe something about the NAS is causing an issue?

Thanks in advance for any help!
