P: adobe premiere error 0xc0000142

I had an issue with Premiere not sending the projects to Encoder, then I noticed they both have a new update so unfortunately I updated them.

Since then I am can't start either of them getting the error 0Xc0000142 message. Other adobe applications such as After Effects, Audition and Photoshop are still working fine.

I have tried the following fixes depending on what I found on the internet:

* Uninstall and reinstall the applications.

* Turn off / Unplug my second monitor. (tried with both monitors).

* Made sure windows is up to date.

* Reverted to an older version of windows.

* Disable all windows startup programs.

* Turn off windows defender / enable premiere and adobe CC through it.

My PC is strong enough for the CC applications, and I never had any issue with them while they are running, but I am noticing that everytime there is an update I am facing a new issue right afterwards.

Any idea what I can do? I was working on a project I need to export ASAP!

ONly fix working for me is to uninstall all the Microsoft Visual C++ packages and reinstall it all from fresh download from Microsoft. SOOOO frustrating. Good day Adobe,

Along with the Windows 24H2 follow-up update, I recently updated the newest CC (big four) programs and all loaded just fine. This is on Windows Enterprise. Thank you very much Adobe for the fix!

Looking forward to checking out the new set of 90 transition/effects.

Greetings Adobe and Community,

Wow! Yet again. WOW! What planet is this happening on? Right here on Earth in the Solar system of the Milky Way galaxy.

2025-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5065426) (26100.6584)

I have to be blunt here. This latest Microsoft update trashes the app loading of the latest CC Adobe updates. Right now, we have to see how far we can go back to load a CC app, especially for the big four.

For example, on one machine, we had just got done updating the Adobe apps and they all opened up and loaded just fine. Then, we had to reboot the machine (which had already downloaded the latest 24H2 update) which is in an Enterprise environment, and that new Microsoft update bringeth forth its wrath—error message 0xc0000142 or as such.

So this time around, I sent a complaint to Microsoft via this route:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/compliance/sbc/report-a-concern

Furthermore, I cordially informed Microsoft, that if this happens again, I will send complaints to the Federal government of the United States of America, via the FTC and the consumer complaint hub, via these routes:

https://www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/bureaus-offices/bureau-consumer-protection

and

https://www.usa.gov/consumer-complaints

Adobe has mission critical software, and Microsoft—WOW—likes to slap it down. I am beginning to think, is this being done intentionally?

And if the above does not work, then I may have to resort to writing a letter to Congress and/or the Trump Administration. I don't like to complain, but this is getting insane, especially in rapid succession where labor hours are wasted reloading a set of apps.

Hello everyone,

After the latest Windows update, I am unable to launch Adobe Premiere Pro (error code 0xc0000142: "the application was unable to start correctly"). The problem started immediately after the update, and now the error appears every time, no matter what I try.

Here’s what I’ve already attempted:

Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro (including older and non-beta versions)

Forced computer restarts

Checked for Windows and Creative Cloud updates

Disabled antivirus/firewall during installation

Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue. I can't work on my projects anymore and urgently need a solution.

Has anyone faced this same problem and found a fix? Are there official workarounds from Adobe or a specific version that works with the new Windows update? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

LATEST

Don't know wich older versions you already tried. But for now, version 25.0 is working on my system.

Beware though - you may not be able to adjust things that was created in a later version.

Older versions also work fine (on my system at least). But they won't let you open projects created in version 25+
