Pr 25.6.3 Text panel bug

Advocate ,

The text panel found in the Window submenu changes the text font, color and other properties to the ones used previously, in the current version of Premiere Pro.

I have a bunch of text templates made entirily inside Premiere Pro. They all have a premade animation, grow\shrink effects, glow, flickering and so on, plus different fonts, colors, text background. I normally used the Text panel to change the texts faster. Today, when I did so and later reviewed all the text layers on my timeline I discovered they all had the same text font, size, color, background, and every other text property.

Please fix it asap.

Steps to reproduce:

- create a mogrt layer by using the text tool in your timeline

- set all the text properties you need

- duplicate the mogrt as many times as you need

- set a different font, solor, size, position, and other properties in each text layer inside each mogrt

- go to the Text panel and try to change text contents for each text there.

@AndrewTheGreat,

What version of PR are you running? What OS?

Window -> Text opens the Text Panel that has Transcript, Captions, and Graphics tabs. But you'd normally set the properties you describe in the Properties panel. What am I missing?

Hi, @Stan Jones

It's my 3d attempt to reply to you - somehow when I hit Reply nothing gets posted.

It's Premiere Pro 25.6.3, Win 11 24h2 (i7 14700K, RTX 4080).

Now for the Text panel - I did mean the Graphics tab. Yes, you'd normally use the Properties tab when you have like 3-4 texts, but when there are 100, changing those becomes a milti-click nightmare, because you need at least 3 clicks to change a text inside a graphics layer on the Properties tab - 1 to select a layerin your timeline, 2 to select a text layer inside and 3 to make the text field active. Plus obvious misclicks that happen often.

And there's the Graphics tab on the Text panel. Having 100 default texts you need to change to texts according to the scenario, you just click and Ctrl+V each.

@AndrewTheGreat,

I've looked at what sticks and doesn't in various versions and methods. And it is time for a new round of tests.

How are you copying? Are you using a text style at any point?

When you refer to a mogrt layer, you're adding a mogrt to your timeline?

@Stan Jones

Again, I described the mechanism in the header. I have a bunch of premade text (graphics) layers like this:

I made each one presonally. Each has a simple structure - in+out transition, certain text font, size and color, a couple of standard effects before the text layer, like this:

When I get the task to make a project for television, I normally have 1 hour for a short video (as one of the tasks). So I need the fastest solution to select parts from a 1,5 hours video, add effects and transitions to each, add and adjust text to illustrate every sentence, even separate phrases and even words. And there are MANY!

What I came up with is using the Graphics tab in the Text panel was the fastest way to paste texts from the scenario. You just copy and paste them, after you have placed all the graphics layers with those texts above the corresponding selected clips.

I normally copy the texts from the Telegram window where the scenario is sent to me by the producer. Sometimes I copy it into WordPad in Windows and copypaste frome there.

And an update. I tried to reproduce this issue in an empty project and I failed. Perhaps this issue is related to the issues with multicam sequences I also reported, because I worked on multicam projects those times.

@AndrewTheGreat,

Okay, I'll try to find time to give this a go!
