Reset to saved layout shortcut pops out Project Panel

The shortcut to reset to saved layout (Shift + Opt/Alt + 0) resets the layout, but pops out the project panel into a seperate window every time. I was able to temporarily resolve this issue by creating a duplicate copy of a preset layout, however, the problem affected my custom workspaces after I shut the program down and started it back again.

Clicking "Reset to saved layout" from the Window menu or from the Workspace shortcut menu does not experience the same problem (hence the bug report.)

Thanks for this! It worked for me. I just added the Media Browser as a tab next to the Project window, saved the workspace, closed PP, re-opened and started a new project. Low and behold the project panel did not revert to it's old location!

We are a long ways into the Creative Cloud era, and you'd think that these Panel positioning issues would be resolved, but nope. The *ONLY* way I've found to keep Panels where you put them is by docking them inside the Application Frame. I assume Adobe would rather we keep everything within that frame, since they can control things like ordering, maximizing, etc, properly (instead of splicing it with the overarching OS windowing), but the big problems there are a.) maximized panels OFTEN jut in over your workspace, so you're constantly readjusting your view to see clearly or minimizing the panels, only to need them again seconds later and b.) (and this is arguably the biggest issue) the Application Frame can't span multiple monitors. So if you have a mammoth curved wide-screen, you could probably make an Application Frame workspace to hold everything everywhere all-at-once, but until then, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME the monitors get recognized by the system in sequence when waking from sleep, the apps will get confused (or stopped midway) in putting them back. In a way, I get it: Say you have a laptop hooked up to dual monitors, and your panels placed just as you like them. You put the laptop to sleep, go elsewhere, wake up the laptop, and now the app needs to find some way to translate those multimonitor locations into one screen (or maybe a different external screen, or multiple external screens). So their solution is to set up a Workspace for each location, which yes, you can do, but the apps are NEVER smart enough to figure out where they are. So it's up to you the user to reset things all the time. If they could make the Workspaces location-aware (and yes, allow to turn off for privacy), I think a lot of these issues would go away. Then even if one of my monitors is powered down accidentally, the app would know "hey, I'm at his home office. There's supposed to be a second monitor here. Maybe I'll place the panels where they are supposed to be, and an optional dialog of "hey, I see you're in a saved location but with a different monitor set-up. Do you want to keep your old setup, or revert to Default and configure for this new setup?" Easy-peasy (says the guy who's never programmed a thing in his life).

I always disabled multiple projects until they killed that workaround.  Now I can't keep my project folder in the upper left.  Thanks for the tip about using the media browser as an anchor for the project folder.  I'm hoping this continues to work until they fix this bug.

YES!!!  This is ridiculous.  Just about as stupid as waiting for an import fix for CMYK in After Effects.  Literally been waiting two decades for a CMYK import option.  I swear they don't care.

Unfortunately, the solution of adding an additional window next to the Program tab was short-lived. The program window is again moving back to the lower left each time I start a new project.

Adobe, I've been using After Effects and Premiere for 25 years - this is a BIG deal.  Please listen and fix.  The project panel disappears.... and reappears up in the upper right instead of the saved workspace position of far left, which is what my custom workspace is saved as.  Simply put:

THE PROJECT FOLDER LOCATION IGNORES ITS SAVED WORKSPACE LOCATION - fix finally, please.

For real though- They can create cutting edge technology but can't seem to get a functioning workspace... This is beyond annoying

I have nine custom workspaces, and never use the built-in ones. I've moved the original workspaces out of sight on the Edit Workspaces list.

But yea, even though I have the Project panel in the second monitor's Panel Group, it occasionally appears back in the lower left quadrant of the 'main' window.

Which as I run totally in Productions, is bizarre. I'll have four-five projects open in my Production, and ... one of them! ... will magically transmigrate to that lower left quadrant.

Annoying.

@Robert37012188x8f0,

Win 10. Shft+Alt+O gives me a windows beep. I added Ctrl+B and it works.

I tried a standard and a custom workspace, and it resets normally.

Are you saying that the Project Panel pops up (as a floating panel) when you reset with the shortcut?

lol, thanks for the correction. Shft+Alt+0 (zero) "works" - and yes, when using it, the Project Panel is left as a floating panel. Fascinating, since adding Ctrl+B as another shortcut works without popping out the Project Panel.

And I replicated the problem in Beta 25.0.0.29. I could not assign an alternative.

Ive had this issue ongoing for over a year and it seems other people have to. No matter what, in my saved workspace, it will NOT go back to the original. and it's absolutley driving me crazy. I am on a Macbook pro using a 27 inch monitor. Every single time it will undock my projects panel. I have deleted and reset over and over again on my layouts. If this is a bug and not a user error, it has became so fustrating as it delays my process. However, if it is user error, please guide me on fixing the error. But again, I believe ive done every possible outcome to fix the saved layouts

Upvoted as well!

I am on my 7 day trial and the first thing  I did was mess up the layout. A slimple search online to fix the layout taught me the Alt + Shift + 0 (Windows). After doing that I also had the project window popup, hence I found myself here to see if there was a logical reason hotkeys function differently.

But right before I found myself here I was on step 3 or 4 of the first video editing tutorial. Following it to the dot I was able to put the project panel back in place using the edit bar by clicking Window, hovering over Workspaces and clicking "Reset to Saved Layout" exactly as you shared in that short video. After watching your short demo of this issue I also learned how to put popups back into place, so thanks for that!
