Project panel sorting clips by frame rate instead of clip name by default

New Here ,
Jul 16, 2025 Jul 16, 2025

Whenever I open a saved project, create a new project, or switch between workspaces, the project panel  resets to sorting clips by frame rate by default. This is extremely frustrating since I am constantly switching between workspaces and need to reset the project panel to sort by clip name by default every time.

I have tried resetting app preferences, resetting preferences via support team, and creating a new view preset to no avail. I would love if someone could help me fix this issue, which seems to be a bug.

Has anyone solved this problem?

I am making a topic here as a last resort because this issue was supposedly escalated by the support team but I did not get a confirmation email or number after the call ended.

I see it here also. When switching workspaces. I'm using PP beta 24.4 b83 with Win11 24H2. Yep, kept switching.

BTW: If you don't already, you might want to turn off Windows/Workspaces  - Import workspace from project.

I also have "import workspace from project" turned off. My version is 25.3.0 on Mac M1 Pro Sonoma 14.5. Seems to be a bug since you and a few other people on this forum have this issue.

Wow, I must say, testing that is mind-boggling! 🙂 All kinds of inconsitent results.

I have an older project I keep around to test multicam and consistency, etc, and that seemed to stick a bit better (started in 2017) but not certain of the sort order. Also, open folders get closed when switching workspaces.

Moving the frame-rate field over one to the right seems to prevent the sort order going there, but, my mind is boggled, so I'm not sure! 🙂

Hi Jackson27475826a0xx,

We're sorry about the poor experience. We're able to reproduce this behaviour. Please allow us some time to get it checked. Also, please let us know if the workaround suggested by MyerPj helps preserve the sort order.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hi, the workaround that MyerPj suggested does not work for me. Would love if the Adobe staff could fix this in the next update!

Just updating here, Adobe Customer Care got back to me and confirmed there is no solution to changing the default sorting option in list view. This is pretty frustating as this used to not be the case with older versions, as confirmed by @MyerPj above.

I would love if Adobe could fix this in the next update. Customer Care also confirmed that the only thing I can do is post my suggestion here, so here it is.

@Sumeet Kumar Choubey  I there anyway to confirm this gets to the right team? Thanks

I've moved this to the Premiere Pro Bugs forum.
