Text Styles lose their Position setting when saved to Local Styles

Text Styles can be saved to the project, and will retain their Position setting. When saved to Local Styles, the Position setting is ignored.

1. Create a Caption, adjust the font and color etc, and move it up 228 pixels to place it in the TikTok safe zone.

2. Click on the + sign and Choose Create style. Choose to save it both to the project and to Local Styles

3. Remove the caption track, and create a new one and a new caption

4. Apply the Text Style from the project. The caption now moves up to the saved position

5. Undo, and now apply the Text Style from the Local Styles

The caption now gets the font and colors etc. from the style, but it remains in the original position.

The Position setting should NOT be ignored when a Text Style is saved to the Local Styles.

@Jarle Leirpoll,

I can't replicate a difference between Project and Local styles, but I see a difference in how a style is applied for both. If I go into the style browser and left-click on a style, it changes the text properties but not the position. If I right-click and pick "Set as track style," it applies both.

A little complicated, since as soon as a Local style is applied as a track style it is added to the project.

I can see at least one reason for this "by design": if you change the position of some, but not all captions, then want to change the appearance, it would work. But the left-click undoes, for example, ALL faux italics that are set.

The history panel may provide some hints:

Editing in the properties panel, one or more captions selected, is "Update Caption."

Left-click in style browser is "Paste style attributes onto text."

Right-click in style browser and pick "Apply style without font" is "Paste style appearance attributes onto text."

Right-click in style browser and pick "Set as track style" is "Set Style."

I started with an existing caption track with captions from a transcript. Later, I used your method and added a caption track and added one caption. I tried both changing the position (the -288) and also changing the Zone. I did not see your results because I was always applying as a track style.

Good sleuthing using the History panel, Stan!

If this is the expected behavior now, I'm a bit surprised that they haven't informed users about the change. It used to be that the Position was remembered by the Local Style, me thinks.
