Voice-over recording doesn’t create audio clips in Premiere Pro 25

Hi, I’m having an issue with the voice-over recording feature in Premiere Pro 25.

When I arm the track (R) and click the microphone button, I can see the input levels moving and I can hear my mic monitoring during the recording. However, when I stop the recording, no audio clip is created on the timeline.

Interestingly, if I record for less than one second, a very short audio clip does appear. But if the recording lasts longer than one second, nothing is saved at all.

I’ve already checked:

.My input device is set correctly in Preferences > Audio Hardware.

Track is armed for recording.

Audio capture location in Project Settings > Scratch Disks is set to a local folder.

The meters move, so the mic signal is detected correctly.

But the problem persists. My microphone does work and can be recorded in other programs like Audacity so my mic doesn't seem to be the problem.

My mic is a Shure MV7+.

You'll find a video recording of me showing the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this issue in Premiere Pro 25? Any workaround or fix would be appreciated.

Hi @missipsa213

Welcome to the forums. Thanks for the video showing your issue. Do you have a built-in mic on your system that you can try in Premiere to eliminate it as the microphone?  Can you tell me which specific version of Premiere 25 you are using?  Can you send me a screengrab of your Audio Hardware Settings?  I ran a quick check on two different computers, and the VO worked correctly on both in 25.4.1.

Hi @missipsa213

It's strange that it records short clips and not long ones.  If you create a new sequence and try making a voice recording, does it work on the new sequence?  If you have time, please give the team a few more details. Please see: How do I report a Problem?

I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the frustration!

Hi, thanks for answering

I don't have a built-in-mic since I'm on a desktop pc and not on a laptop but I have tried with another microphone from my headset and the result is the same, mic is recognized but doesn't create any clip.
I'm using 25.4.1, I was using the 24 version and met this bug, I have uptaded to 25 because of that bug but finds out that it's stille there.

Here's my Audio Hardware Settings.

I have tried in a new sequence, even in a different project but no, still the same.

Idk if it's important but Premiere is installed on my SSD which is C:/ while my Scratch Disks are on a separate HDD which is A:/.

Hope I'll find a solution.

Might have found the solution, it worked for me but I dont know if it'll work for you.
What I did was just create a new project as a whole, and put the adjustment layer in (as opposed to black video which I always do). Maybe try that, make sure you don't have the adjustment layer selected.

Hi, thanks for trying to help but nah it didn't work for me. I already tried in a new sequence or a new project and the result is the same.

ok this is going to sound very stupid. But I had the same issue. And then I realized that my IN and OUT window for playback/rednering/etc wasn't highlighting my timeline where I was trying to record. So i kept pressing the button and no audio track was being created. finally just realized I need to move the render window back to where I was trying to record...

I have an update, surprising update. Finds out that audios that I try to create are actually created and are located in the dedicated folder for audios. They just don't appear on the timeline somehow. I'm still trying to figure how to manage this but the problem seems less problematic in some way.
