Does anyone know of a way to add information to exported media?
Specifically, I want to add data to an export, but do not want to have to add that info into the source file. I want to automate one clip being exported at multiple in/out points, with different data per export. It would also help for adding info when exporting at a sequence level.
Currently, my solution is setting up a watch folder on export, so that when export is complete the info will be inserted into the XMP. Seems like overkill, so I hope there is another way.
Is there any way to access this metadata info through Media Encoder's API?
No. AME offers no APIs for manipulation of anything about, or within, a sequence. The additional steps shouldn't be noticeable/apparent, to the user.
Or could I put in a feature request for this?
You're welcome to request it, but it's exceedingly unlikely to get implemented anytime soon, because of the design

Perhaps you could inserting/modify the sequence metadata before triggering the export?
During an export, your panel can control whether metadata is exported, at all.
Seems like making PPro render the file, importing it into the project, setting the metadata, saving the project (flush the metadata cache), then delete the imported media from the project, would be the best way to go.

Hmm. Waiting for the file to render and importing it back in (just to delete it) seem like even more steps than my watch folder solution. Is there any way to access this metadata info through Media Encoder's API?
