Adding music removed video from my project

Help! I compiled some footage into a sequence on Premiere Pro, and everything was working fine. But when I added an audio track, I lost the previews for all of the footage where the track overlapped with that footage. The source footage still exists, but it just won't show up in the preview. I tried exporting and the footage is just black once the audio track begins. I tried swapping the renderer from Software Only to Open CL - no luck. I even tried copying and pasting the footage into a new sequence and a new project to no avail.

I didn't do a TON of work on the sequence already - just lots of cropping, clip splitting and warp stabilization - but I would love to not have to do it again. This is my first project in Premiere Pro in a very long time, so any help is appreciated!

Can you show the audio in the Source panel? Also, what else do you have on top of the V1? Show that to clear up doubts.

Here's my guess.

It seems like your music track is inside a nest. When you're dragging that nest onto your timeline, it's probably dragging along a video layer and overwriting on V2. But since your V1 on the timeline is so wide, you can't see V2 where the nest is probably hiding your edited video on V1.

If that's the case, scroll up on your timeline, or resize V1, and make sure there's nothing on V2.

That's strange. Try to convert that audio into another format and import it again and see if it works for you...

That's a good suggestion! I'll do it next time - unfortunately, even deleting the music doesn't bring back the video. It was also just an mp3, so I hope that wasn't the issue!

It would be much better if you upload a screenshot of your entire interface, not crop it. That way, you let us try to see if there's anything out of the ordinary with the "normal" settings in your interface, other than the ones you tell us about.

Ope! Good call. Didn't even realize I'd cropped it. Thank you! Let me know if I can zoom in on anything for you.

Are there any clips that are online at Dropbox? If so, try to collect files and work with your project locally.

Can I tell you something really embarrassing? I didn't know anythingw as on top of the V1. There was another music track there. That's why the video was black. Gahhh! Thank you!
