on 2013 Mac Pro OS X Mojave with 64 gig RAM...I updated (but kept Premiere 13.1.5 on board) and the 2020 version pinwheels everytime I just click to perform a simple function.  I do run a blackmagic ultrastudio 4k with the vers 11.4 driver so its all practically upd to date.  The only other , maybe, gotcha would be an audio compressor plugin I use from wavearts "FinalPlug" that may cause some grief.  Would like to know if anyone has encountered this.

Thanks there!

UPDATE NOV 8-2019:  It seems to be an issue with the Audio Hardware setup in preferences doubled with the playback pref settting.  We've had this exact same behavior happen and had to make sure hardware pref was set to built in line output/ adobe desktop aduio then audio device in playback set to blackmagic.  It works fine in Premiere 13.1.5 BUT does not work in 14.  One of my co-workers doesnt have an issue but his preference settings are set to blackmagic output in the hardware setup and playback audio device is set to adobe desktop audio.  I tried that and it's still wanky.  This is very screwball.

UPDATE NOV 26-2019: WENT TO CUSTOMER SUPPORT, CHAT, HAD REP LOG INTO MY SYSTEM AND TURNED OUT PREFS WERE CORRUPT.  WE RESET PREFS, CLEARED MEDIA CACHE AND ALL WORKS A-OKAY.

Great support for this situation by Adobe folks.

Great! Glad to hear it.

Thanks,
Kevin

I am on a Mac Pro 2012 and have experienced reduced performance after updating to 2020. One thing I noticed is that the renderer defaults to Metal which doesn't work well. My GPU is somewhat old (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680) but it worked just fine on earlier PP releases. This is one of the Nvidia cards that Apple is still supposed to be supporting so I am not sure why playback is laggy/choppy in 2019 & 2020. OpenCL is now listed as "degraded" when you try to select it as the renderer but, for me, still works better than Metal. It's time for a computer upgrade and I think I will move to PC (Puget Systems) and away from the Apple compatibility nonsense.
